We are the regional shelter encompassing the city of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Clark County. We receive animals in by animal control, public turn in and owner turn in. Once the animal has been released from the lost/found area, brought into adoptions. Once in adoptions, our animals are ready for you to fall in love and select them as your new forever companion. We have a lot of adoption staff to assist you finding the right animal for you!
Adopting a friend is easy! You need to be at least 18 years old and have a picture ID with your current address. If your ID does not have your current address, you can bring in a utility bill for proof of address.
If you rent, you will need the landlord or apartment manager's permission. If your lease shows the weight restriction, you can use that for a release. We can also call the apartment or landlord for you. Please understand, we only do this to guarantee that the animal you are selecting can stay and live with you. It is very hard on the animal to be brought back if your landlord does not approve.

While looking at our list of available dogs you may notice that there are many American Pit Bull Terrirers or Pit Bulls. Pit Bulls are often overlooked as family pets because of the bad reputation they have received. Did you know that these dogs can make great pets? Did you also know that the RCA Victor dog (His Master's Voice), the Buster Brown Shoes dog and the dog in Our Gang were all American Pit Bull Terriers? If you are considering adopting a Pit Bull or would like to know more about the breed you can read more about them on Petfinder. com. To get to the article return to the Petfinder.com home page and select Library from the yellow side bar. From there select Breeds>Dog Breeds>If You're Thinking About Adopting A Pit Bull. You may also want to visit http://www.canismajor.com/dog/amerpit.html to read more about Pit Bulls.
