![]() Who We Are Yarmouth SPCA is a branch of the Nova Scotia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Yarmouth SPCA rescues and takes care of abused, abandoned, homeless animals and attempts to find good homes for the unwanted and healthy animals in our care. The shelter has space for approximately 28 each of dogs and cats and is usually full to capacity at all times. All animals up for adoption are vaccinated, de- wormed, spayed or neutered and treated with Revolution ,all cats are Feline Leulemia tested. Every animal adopted has to be spayed or neutered in a designated time period. This is mandatory. Yarmouth SPCA animal shelter has approximately 1500 animals per year admitted to the shelter. Some are reclaimed by their owner, some are adopted and others have to be euthanized. Unfortunately, our community has an over-population of cats and dogs- a result of pet owners not having their pets spayed or neutered, which is very important. Yarmouth SPCA receives no government funding. The expenses of running the shelter are covered by fundraising, memberships, donations, dog control services and community events. Adopting a Friend
Understand that this is an adoption process, not a sale. The SPCA reserves the right to postpone or refuse an adoption. We'll check with you to see how you and your new pet are doing. Feel free to call us with problems. Adoption Costs All have had their first vaccine and deworming. Cats and kittens are feline leuk tested. Animals under 6 months adopted outside Yarmouth County are given a "proof of spay/neuter" form. A deposit of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats will be paid at time of adoption. This must be signed by vet at time of neuter/spay and a refund of the deposit will be sent in mail once vet signed "spay/neuter" form is mailed back to us. * Spay and Neutering IS MANDATORY. Animals will be reclaimed by shelter if not spayed or neutered. Contact Info
