The Lea County Humane Society is open to the public.
Tuesdays thru Saturdays from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Who We Are

The Lea County Humane Society is a registered non-profit organization.
In 2009 we will be celebrating our 59th year anniversary.

Adopting a Friend

The adoption policy for the Lea County Humane Society is that each adoption is $90.00.

This provides your pet with current Rabies vaccination and the pets are either already spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter.
- A home visit will be required for all Lea County residents.
-Senior Citizen Discount- The adoption fee is only $75.00
The process for a successful adoption is as follows:
- You must fill out an adoption application on the animal you wish to adopt.
- The animals will be spayed or neutered, if they aren't already.
- Once everything has been approved, You will have added a new member to your home. And for that we say Thank you!
Lea County Residents
A home visit just consists of making sure that the animals will be kept in a safe environment. Holes in the fence, too short of a fence, making sure the animal gets along with the other animals, etc. is all that it will consist. If there is any problems such as the fence, they will give you a selected time frame to get it repaired and bring the animal again.

-The Lea County Humane Society gladly accepts any of our adopters to return their adopted animal if it can no longer live with you.

The Lea County Humane Society is located at 1018 1/2 West Alabama Street in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Directions:

The easiest way to get to the shelter is to head north on Grimes, passing Millens and Kansas. Once you get to Alabama (Its a four way stop) turn left and head west for approximately one quarter mile. There is a large blue sign on the right side of the road that has Lea County Humane Society on it. Just drive down the dirt road next to the sign and you will see the kennels and runs.

Interested in Volunteering?

The Lea County Humane Society Board holds it's monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month at the Agnes Kasthead Senior Center located at 200 E. Park at 7:00 pm.

-We would love to have you visit us and help to make our abandoned and forgotten pet's voices heard.

-We are also looking for people who would be willing to help us at the shelter.

-Another way to help out is to make recommendations to your friends and neighbors of the available pets that are in need of a great home.
