At the time of adoption, the City requires a DEPOSIT only, this deposit goes towards the spay/neuter/vaccinations of your pet. The city does not make ANY money off the animals, once you provide proof the animal has been spayed or neutered your deposit is refunded 100%. Neuter (males): $90 Spay (females): $100 CATS Neuter (males): $60 Spay (females): $80 WISHLIST and DONATIONS Here's a list of things we always use and need. DOGS: Dry and canned dog food, food and water bowls of all sizes, treats, rawhide chews, outdoor dog houses and igloos, dog beds, large bath towels, blankets, throws, washcloths, toys, collars and leashes of all sizes, shampoo, grooming supplies. PetMeds CATS: Kitty litter, small litter boxes, dry and canned food, food and water bowls, toys, treats, scratchers, scratching post, cat houses, beds, towels, washcloths, collars, bleach spray, dish soap, bleach, newspaper. PetMeds OFFICE/SHELTER: Bleach, bleach spray, dish soap, paper towels, ink cartridges, copy paper, dog houses, dog & cat beds, towels, washcloths, dog & cat brushes and combs. 
 
The Socorro Animal Shelter is located 1.25 miles south on New Mexico State Rd. 1 (the Frontage Road parallel to I-25), south of town, behind the UPS building and in front of the Municipal Airport. We are just a 1 hour drive south of Albuquerque, 3 hours from Santa Fe, and 2 hours from Las Cruces, NM. It is best to take exit 147: After you take the exit, you need to get into your left lane as soon as possible. There will be a green sign that says airport with an arrow to go left. Take that left so that you pass between a car wash and RV park. Head south about 1.25 miles. We are located right behind the UPS building and in front of the Municipal Airport. If you take exit 150: Head south all the way down California St., passing all the stop lights in town. You will come up to a fork on the road after you pass the Conoco gas station. Get off of California St. and start heading down State Rd. 1. You need to pass between the car wash and RV park and keep going south for about 1.25 miles.
