A Wheaten Terrier is a medium sized, hardy, sporting TERRIER that is distinguished by it's soft, silky, wheaten color, nonshedding hair. They require daily exercise, a lot of grooming or a short haircut and a responsible owner who is willing to teach them basic obedience. They are indoor dogs that need to be with their families. For the most part Wheatens are easily trained and do well at obedience, agility, herding ,ect. but without leadership they will develop inappropriate behaviors.
Who We Are
The Rescue Mission of the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of America provides rescue service for purebred Wheatens whoose breeder is unknown or unable to help. We provide rescue in areas of the country where no local Wheaten club rescue service is available. Veterinary health evaluations are conducted, infirmities are tended to and a spay/neuter is done if needed. Dogs stay in approved club foster homes for a minimum of two weeks and a temperament evaluation is conducted. Placement is based on the adoptive home that best fits the dog not on who applies first. For further information go to www.scwtca.org and click on Rescue.
