All stray impounded animals without identification are held for a minimum or five (5) working days. All adoptable animals not redeemed/reclaimed within the holding period are placed for adoption or transferred to other animal shelters or certified rescue groups.

Our dogs and cats love to sleep on Kuranda beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog or cat to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda bed.

Who We Are
Mountainair Animal Control Department is here to protect the animals from cruelty, neglect, and abuse( the humane treatment of animals)., the public from annoyance , injury, and illness. We are a refuge for the animals until a good home is found for them.
Adopting a friend
Canine Adoption Fees are $50.00. We are not established with a veterinarian. So a sterility deposit will be taken untell proof of sterility is provided within a specific time frame and a rabies vaccination by a licensed veterinarian. Sterility Deposit is $50.00.

We are located in Mountainair N.M. The Animal Shelter's Office is located at the Doctor Saul Memorial Building (107 N. Roosevelt Ave. ) in the Police Department. The Animal Shelter is located at the Mountainair Rodeo Grounds. The Rodeo Grounds are locked, so to see the animals you must see the Animal Control Officer.
