The Española Valley Humane Society is an open-admissions facility that proudly accepts over 4,000 animals each year, regardless of health, age, breed or temperament. We are a refuge for dogs and cats that would otherwise be abandoned – hungry, scared, or left to fend for themselves.
Adopting a friend
When you adopt a cat or dog from the Española Valley Humane Society, you are joining thousands of people who have added to their families with one of our animals. You’re not just saving a life—you’re enhancing yours.
Open every day | 8 am to 5 pm
Adoption hours: Mon – Fri | Noon to 5 pm Sat, Sun | 10 am to 5 pm
Adult cats and medium or large dogs $40
Kittens, puppies and small breed dogs $80
Prices vary at special events and during high season.

Directions: From Santa Fe, travel north on 285 to the first light in Española (Dandy Burger is on the left). Turn left onto U.S. 84 north. Take the very next left and then an immediate right onto Hamm Parkway. Follow the dirt road to the end. The shelter is on the left.
