For updates on our adoptable pets, please tune in to KRSN 1490 AM at 12:07 p.m. every Thursday, sponsored by Animal Clinic of Los Alamos
Pets with "in FC-" before their names are in foster care.
All of our pets may be adopted in and out of state. We welcome all interested people to contact us.
For long distance and out of state adoptions,
the adopter is required to make the necessary travel arrangements for their new pet.

Hi! I'm Mozart and I'm looking for a great new home.
Mozart is an elderly black/ grey tabby found on San Ildefonso. She's spayed, about 10 years old, DSH tabby. Was given dental treatment. Very gentle and sweet. Currently in foster care.
Come by the shelter today and meet our other pets as well !!

Our Shelter Animals Make Their Debut on TV!
PAC-8, the local public access channel, has started featuring our shelter animals as part of their weekly programming. We'll keep you posted on the details.

Who We Are
Friends of the Shelter is a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of shelter animals in north central New Mexico.
Our activities include:
Promoting adoption of shelter animalsMobile Adoption ClinicsPaying for medical care for shelter animalsFunding spay and neutering of shelter animalsRecruiting volunteers to work with shelter animalsAdopting a Friend
Our organization works closely with the Los Alamos Animal Shelter, and adopting a friend from the shelter is rewarding and easy! The shelter charges a $25 adoption fee for pets that come into the shelter already-neutered, otherwise the fee is $60 to assist in covering sterilization costs.

The Los Alamos Animal Shelter is located at 200 Knecht Street in Los Alamos, and the
phone number is 505-662-8179. The Shelter hours are 10:00 am to
1:00 pm, Monday through Sundays.
The Shelter provides care for animals for 10 days and vaccinations before making them available for adoption. Some pets are in foster homes, and information about these animals is available from the shelter.
All dogs are given a DHLPP shot when they come into the shelter and cats are checked for feline leukemia.
Any animal that appears to have a medical problem is taken to a local vet for evaluation.
