Who We Are

CLAWS is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit cat rescue and adoption shelter located in Augusta, NJ.

Founded in 2002, our sole purpose is to rescue and house stray, abandoned, neglected, and abused cats.

Everyday, thousands of cats and kittens are left homeless, with no shelter or place to go. Most of them are abused. It seems to be a never ending problem. We cannot take them all, but the ones that we do are given proper veterinary care, a clean, comfortable place to stay, and the security of knowing they are being taken care of until they find a permanent loving, stable home.

CLAWS only operates on public donations and small adoption fees ($40/cat). We are a private shelter and do not get state funding. Our adoption success rate has been incredible, but we are always in need of more wonderful adoptive homes for a wide variety of special, loving cats.

Located at 28 Pelletown Road in Augusta, NJ, our shelter is open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Adopting A Friend

Our adoption fee of $40/cat includes all age appropriate vaccines. All adoptable cats & kittens have tested FIV/FELV negative and are also wormed and treated for parasites, including fleas and ticks.

Cats of age are spayed/neutered before adoption. Younger kittens are adopted under the condition that they will be spayed by the age of six months. Our adoption fee covers only a portion of the vet bills incurred.

CLAWS cats will only be adopted under the condition that they will never be declawed and must remain indoor-only pets. Adopted cats may be returned to the shelter at any time, no questions asked.

From time to time, we do have a cat that has FIV and will ALWAYS include that information in the cat's description. Any cat with FIV will be listed as a special needs cat and can only be adopted to homes without other cats or homes with only FIV positive cats.

CLAWS tries to keep our Petfinder page as up-to-date as possible, but since we always have new additions, we recommend stopping by the shelter to meet all of our current cats.

Donations Welcome

CLAWS veterinary bills can be very expensive, so we are always in need of monetary donations. Donations of the following supplies are also greatly appreciated:
