GOLDEN HEARTS DOG RESCUE
formerly known as Luke's Place Dog Rescue
We are a small group of volunteers dedicated to saving wonderful dogs who otherwise would be euthanized due to lack of space in the shelter system. Most of our dogs are pulled from high kill shelters in the South. We have them neutered (if old enough), innoculated and temperment tested so that we can provide animals that will be healthy, happy, family pets. For the safety of our animals and your families, our dogs are placed in a foster home for a minimum of two weeks to ensure that they are not incubating any diseases and we have a sense of their disposition. They then receive a final vet check and we have them privately transported to New Jersey.
As animal lovers we understand the desire to save all of these dogs but we urge you to not adopt any animal that has not been through these precautions; it could be dangerous to you and the animal. The best way to help is by fostering, by educating others about the need to spay or neuter, and by adopting, not buying!
Our goal is to make your family complete with the perfect pet. To help us do our best in matching you with a pet who will fit in your household, we ask you to fill out the application below. It gives us information about your lifestyle and what you are looking for in a dog so we can find the best match. Thank you for considering rescue.
Think you might want to adopt but are not sure? Consider our Foster to Adopt Program. With the promise of a temporary home we can rescue more dogs and if you fall in love, you get first choice on your foster. Please contact us for more information.
Golden Hearts Dog Rescue has foster homes in NJ and surrounding areas.
URGENT - URGENT - URGENT - URGENT - URGENT We are in desperate need of foster homes to help more dogs. In keeping with our objective of adopting out well socialized family pets we do not kennel our animals. Without the love and care of foster homes we are not able to help as many dogs as we would like. If you could find it in your heart to help with these dogs, it only takes a little time and effort to help out. Please think about it and give us a call, we are happy to explain the fostering process to you. You can make a world of difference!
Pet of the Month
Who We Are
We are Pat, Roger, and Lilli, along with a group of volunteers, who found their lives changed by having that special "Heart" dog in their life. We are a rescue for any dog who has the potential to be that special golden heart bringing love and joy to a family. Golden Hearts Rescue needs your support . We are not connected with or financed by any city, state or federal government agency. The services we provide to you, your family, your pets and community are financed by adoption fees, your contributions and other generous citizens.
We appreciate monetary donations to help us care for our rescued animals. If you would like to make a donation to help rescue and rehome animals, please call or write us. You can also make a donation at our web site: www.ghdr.org
Interested in adopting a friend? GREAT!
Our adoption process includes an application and reference check. Puppies are sometimes too young to be altered at time of adoption. In those cases adopters must pay a $ 100 Spay/Neuter Deposit which will be refunded after Golden Hearts Rescue receives documentary proof from the performing vet that this procedure was done.
We do a home visit as part of the process. We encourage local adoptions for this reason. Keep in mind puppies take a lot of time, attention and dedication so please be sure you are ready for the energetic, fun loving pup that will be part of your family. If you are not ready for a puppy you might want to consider an adult dog. Our dogs are temperament tested and loving companions.
