The Franklin Township Animal Shelter was established more than 30 years ago to handle the animal control and sheltering needs of the municipality. In 1998, Second Chance For Animals, a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of the animals in shelters, began working with the Franklin Township Animal Shelter and now provides volunteers and support to the shelter. This partnership has resulted in improved experiences for the animals housed at the shelter and increased adoptions.
Pet Adoption
Puppies, dogs, kittens and cats are available for adoption. Shelter staff and volunteers seek to make a match that will last a lifetime. Animals are spayed or neutered and provided with necessary vaccinations prior to adoption. The adoption fee for all animals is $60.
Animal control and rescue
Experienced animal control officers provide animal control and rescue services for the township. If you have an animal control emergency, please call the Franklin Township police department.
Volunteers are welcome and are trained by Second Chance for Animals, a not-for-profit organization that currently assists the Franklin Township Animal Shelter. Volunteer duties include walking dogs, socializing the cats, cleaning cages, fundraising, helping with adoptions, transporting animals and much more.
For information on volunteering, please visit the Second Chance For Animals website.
The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
