Donate a Bed

Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, and we'd like to give our cats a chance to try them, too.
Thanks to your generous donations, we're in good shape for dog beds now, but we can always use more soft bedding pads.
We'd especially appreciate two more cat towers or more cat beds. If you would like to donate a Kuranda pad for a dog bed or a bed at a special wholesale price for a another cat to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda bed.

Can you help our bunnies?

Our bunnies crave fresh greens, but we rely on donations for them.
If you can donate some leaf lettuce they would really appreciate it!
They love baby Romaine! Dandelion greens, kale, collards, turnip greens, parsley and red leaf lettuce are great, too.

Who We Are...

Bergen County Animal Shelter
100 United Lane
Teterboro, New Jersey 07608

We are a county operated shelter providing animal control to contracting communities in Bergen County and Kearny in Hudson County. We accept owned animals for a fee from our contracted communities. If space permits, we will accept owned animals from other Bergen County towns. Except for Kearny, we do not accept animals from outside Bergen County. Our contracting towns are Alpine, Bergenfield, Closter, Cresskill, Demarest, Dumont, Edgewater, Elmwood Park, Emerson, Englewood, Englewood Cliffs, Glen Rock, Hackensack, Harrington Park, Hasbrouck Heights, Haworth, Kearny, Leonia, Little Ferry, Lyndhurst, Maywood, Moonachie, New Milford, North Arlington, Norwood, Oradell, Ridgefield Park, River Edge, River Vale, Rochelle Park, Rockleigh, Saddle Brook, South Hackensack, Tenafly, Teterboro, Westwood and Wood-Ridge. For a stray found in any other community, call the police department of the town in which the animal is found to determine the appropriate agency that provides animal control for that community.

Adoptions...

Dogs, Cats, Birds, Rabbits, Ferrets, Guinea Pigs and other pocket pets - Cats, dogs and rabbits must be spayed or neutered before leaving. While we try to keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible, we cannot guarantee an animal will still be available when you arrive. We do not have the staff to maintain a waiting list. Because of that, we try to post the highly adoptable animals when they become available to give people a chance to get to the shelter the next day. If you see a puppy, kitten or a small dog, chances are it will be adopted quickly. If you take the time to email us or call, you might lose a chance at adopting. We do not ship animals. Your entire family, human and in the case of dog adoptions, canine, must come to the shelter for the adoption.

Services...

Spay and neuter services for shelter pets, veterinary services for shelter animals, X-ray technologies, wildlife education, around the clock animal control for sick, diseased, injured, or trapped animals, pickup of stray animals, bi-monthly rabies clinics, trapping dangerous or wild animals, special oil cleanup facility and equipment, computer identification system, educational programs.

Cats - $50-$75, depending on age
Rabbits - $35
Ferrets - $35
