Basenji Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit rescue organization dedicated to finding new owners for homeless Basenjis. Please check our our main website.... http://www.basenjirescue.org.....
Our dogs arrive from shelters or direct from owners who are unable to keep them. All donations go into vetting and feeding our foster dogs. Our rescue program does not carry many dogs and our operation in New Jersey is very small.

Of course, we love Basenji mixes, and we do accept mixes into the program from time to time, but our resources are extremely limited. If you are interested in the placement of a mix with us, it should be easily recognized for Basenji traits and these traits should be the dominant feature.
Adoptions...
Many of our dogs are adults (5-8 years old) and most are housetrained. We usually evaluate our dogs in our homes---they live with our animals while waiting for their new homes, although exceptions occur.
You can begin the adoption process by requesting an adoption application. References will be checked and then you are welcome to set up an appointment to meet the homeless hopeful.
Services...
before placement, each Basenji is brought up to date on distemper and rabies injections, is spayed or neutered, tested for heartworm, and temperment checked with other animals and people.
In addition to our placement services, we offer guidance with behavior training or counseling, if you should desire it.
Volunteers...
Volunteers for fostering are always needed, as are volunteers to provide transportation to us from the shelter, and for public education outreach.
Donations...
A donation is based on medical expenses and helps us offset the costs we incur to ready the dog for adoption.
Equipment such as crates, leashes, and sweaters are always welcome.
