URGENT NEED FOR FOSTER HOMES!

We desperately need foster homes! We want to help as many animals as we can who are on euthanasia lists at kill shelters, but have to say no to many because we just don't have a place to put them. We do not have a physical shelter; the animals we rescue are kept safe in foster homes until we find their forever homes. It gives us a great opportunity to find our more about the animal in a home environment, and it's very rewarding. Please consider it! The typical foster period is not very long, and although it can be hard to give up an animal you've grown to love, you know that you are giving them a second chance. And then you can help another!

Keep in mind that only 1 out of 10 dogs born ever get a home, and only 1 out of 12 cats born ever find a home. 800 dogs & cats are killed EACH HOUR in the U.S. because there are not enough homes for them.

Saving one animal will not change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal.

By volunteering to foster an animal, you can make a difference!

PET OF THE MONTH

Our pet of the month introduces herself...

Mandy (photo above) is a beautiful lab puppy who is full of love and needs a chance to have a normal life. Unfortunately, she wasn't socialized enough with people early on, and therefore she needs a family that will socialize her to all the things she finds scary. Mandy's new family should be willing to do things like take her to puppy classes and introduce her to lots of people and places to help her overcome her shyness. She has great potential, and we think she is worth every second of the effort. She has come along way now and is doing very well she is still shy of large men but is very good with females.

NEWS

Please consider adopting an older dog or cat; they're often already trained and are very lonely without their families. They look at you with such sad eyes, wondering what happened to their previous lives, but they adapt so quickly to a new home. Love and attention are all it takes. It's rewarding to adopt a homeless animal.

WHO WE ARE

Pets For Keeps is an all-volunteer rescue organization centered in Clifton, NJ. We rescue adoptable animals from overcrowded shelters where they are likely to be euthanized, and take in adoptable strays from the streets. We do not have a physical shelter with established hours; the rescued animals are kept at volunteer foster homes until they find their "forever" homes. This is much less stressful for the animals, because they can become part of a family rather than being isolated in a crate. This helps the animals transition into permanent homes more easily. It also helps us to evaluate each animal's personality in a home environment so that we can place him/her in the best forever home possible.

SPECIAL FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY

ADOPTING A FRIEND

Take a look at our animals, and see if any would complete your family. We always have a wide variety of choices, and you're sure to find the perfect match for you.

Although we have no physical location, we would love for you to come to a foster home to meet the pet you are interested in. Contact us to let us know you're interested.

First, we'll send you an adoption application to fill out. We will review the application to ensure that the animal you're interested in would be a good match, and we'll check your personal and vet references. We'll contact you and schedule a meeting with the animal. The meeting may take place at your home or the foster home. We like to arrange a home visit, so that we can ensure that a safe environment will be provided for the animal you wish to adopt.

Once the adoption is approved, we will ask you to review and sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Adoption fees vary with each animal, and are used to pay for medical and other expenses that the rescue incurs. We will send the pet's immunization records to you once the adoption is finalized.

PLEASE CONTACT US!!

If you are interested in volunteering, we are always in need of foster families. Our volunteers already have several animals of their own, and can't adopt any more, but they're willing to give an animal a temporary loving home. A foster arrangement is a perfect way to play a role in making it possible for a rescued animal to have a new life. Fostering is an extremely rewarding experience for all of us who do it. Yes, it's sometimes (always!) hard to let the little one go to his/her new home, but you know that you've done something special by caring for them until their new family came along.

Donations of food are always needed. We use Pedigree "small bites" dry food (original flavor) and canned dog food. Our puppies eat Puppy Chow. The cats eat Cat Chow dry food. We always need paper towels and bleach. We welcome old towels and blankets so that each pet can sleep on something soft.

We are always in need of monetary donations to help us care for our rescued animals. Vet costs, food, and supplies are very costly, and our adoption fees don't always cover them. If you would like to make a donation to help rescue and rehome animals, please call us. Thank you! We (and the animals) appreciate it! The more help we get, the more animals we can save.
