Buy the highest-quality food you can afford to help keep your cat healthy. Spaying your female cat prevents her from suffering the agonizing frustration of being in heat, a state that typically lasts about a week and cycles repetitively through most of the year. It also helps to prevent uterine or ovarian cancer and mammary tumors. When a male cat is neutered, he becomes less driven to roam or act aggressively toward other animals. He will not be as likely to spray in the house, and his urine will not have a strong marking scent. Even if your cat is strictly an indoor cat, there is still a possibility of escaping through an open window or door, especially with an unfamiliar crowd of people around or an emergency situation. That is why it is important for every cat to have a collar with an identification tag.
