About Us
Our architect, James Livoti, AIA has completed plans for Phase One of our shelter and sanctuary. We are very excited about getting started! Stay tuned for updates about our progress.
Animal Outreach is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping the abused, abandoned, and neglected animals of Cape May County and beyond. Animal Outreach (AO) began as a fostering network in 1998, and now we again use our foster homes to rehabilitate and care for animals in need.
We have had a devastating setback. Until recently, we could only house cats and kittens in our small facility, but it tragically burned down in the early morning hours of May 18, 2007. The fire that struck the trailer, the origin of which was an electrical malfunction in the adjacent trailer owned by the City of Cape May, destroyed all of our animals, supplies, food, and the entire shelter. We are broken-hearted but remain committed to the animals that we serve and are working to build a new shelter on property that we had previously purchased. Our plans are to erect a no-kill shelter and sanctuary where both dogs and cats will be lovingly cared for and, if necessary, spayed or neutered, before being placed in a forever home.
There is a tremendous need for our services, and we expect to continue our operation indefinitely and hope to continue our mission well into the future. We are a small operation with a big heart and bigger plans. And the community is behind us in reaching our goals. We hope you can help us with our commitment to the animals. Please contact us. Let us know how you can help!
