Ever wonder why Adopt A Pet, A Central New Jersey rescue group, one of the first members of Petfinder, is so against Puppy Mills. Look at our website look at who we have for adoption and look at our happy tails. More than 70% of our dogs came directly from a pet store or a mill. The Shelter animals don't stand a chance as long as the market is being flooded with a never ending supply of Puppies and kittens.

Who we are...

Adopt-A-Pet was founded in 1984 and is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to finding homes for animals who need them. Adopt-A-Pet is different from most shelters and rescue organizations in that any animal who comes through our doors will not be in danger of being euthanized. Many animals have problems that are solved if given the right treatment and training, these dogs are kept in foster homes until adopted

News....
Adopt-A-Pet inc. is in need of a car to be donated. Over the past 15 years we had 2 cars donated. Our last car being a 1999 Subaru that was donated by a lovely family. It has suddenly died on us and the price to fix will be too much for us. We used this car for transporting dog to vets and therapy, and also to spay/neuter appointments. The car is also used to do pet adoption days, picking up dogs from other transport sites and delivering them to their new homes. If you have a car that you are thinking about donating, please think of us and remember that your donation is tax deductible. Thank you in advance for leading a hand or in this case a set of wheels. .

Donations....

We are desperately in need of donations to pay for medical bills for our handicapped pets. EDUCATED PEOPLE DON'T BUY FROM PET STORES, REMEMBER A STORE SELLING PUPPIES AND KITTENS DOES NOT REPRESENT A REPUTABLE BREEDER. THEY REPRESENT "COMMERCIAL BREEDERS OR WHAT WE CALL PUPPY MILLS". We are always in need of dog & cat food ,crates,blankets towels,toys, supplies and cash donations.

Adopt-A-Pet consists of all volunteers who dedicate their time,home,and love of animals.We are always in need of new foster homes and volunteers to assist with other projects.We are also in need of volunteers to help with fundraising,press releases,and pet adoption days. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact us by e-mail or phone.

"Baggage"

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.
Hmm . . . Yes, there it is, right on the top
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things -
And take me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never repack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
