Peis and Strays is a non-profit all-volunteer organization. It was established by a small group of individuals in the New England area with the intent of helping Chinese Shar Pei find loving homes.
Peis and Strays relies on donations, fund-raising activities and adoption fees for its income. We do not receive any state or federal funds. All donations directly benefit the dogs in our adoption program. We hope to have our federal non-profit status soon. We are always in need of donations and committed volunteers like ourselves. Adopting a friend
Thank you for your interest in adopting a Shar Pei! Our adoption process includes our adoption application, a home visit, and veterinary and personal references. The Adoption Donation for all our dogs is $325.
We do not have a physical shelter, all of our dogs are cared for by our volunteer foster homes all across New England. If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please show us that you are seriously interested in adopting a dog by filling out an adoption application. If we determine that your family and the dog are a possible match, we will arrange a meeting for you with the dog and your family.
We need foster homes!
Foster homes are an important part of our rescue organization. Since we do not have a formal shelter here in New England, they are especially critical and needed. Our volunteer foster homes provide food, shelter and socialization for the newly acquired dog and make the difference as to whether we can help a dog in need.
