Nala (named after the little female lion cub in Lion King) is a gorgeous and sweet girl. She LOVES other dogs and would make a wonderful second (or third!) dog! If you are interested in learning more about Nala or our other dogs needing homes, please read more about them by clicking on their profile under Our Adoptable Pet List. |

| The Wynn Dog Rescue is a comprised
of a group of animal lovers from the Eastern Monadnock
region. We are a completely volunteer team and devote our time to this cause because we are in love with our satos! We recently received our 501(c)(3) status from the Federal Government, and we could not be more pleased with the strides Wynn Rescue has made since its inception in 2006.
We work primarily with Second Chance Animal Rescue in Puerto Rico (www.boxer.dreamhost.com -- please check them out!), an outstanding organization on the island that rescues and rehabilitates dogs that are found abandoned, unwanted, and malnourished. These are wonderful and loving dogs, and we bring up monthly rescue transports in order to place them in wonderful and loving homes here in New England. We are a foster-home rescue organization, without a physical shelter. Our dogs live in temporary homes with loving volunteers until we can find them permanent placement. We feel this structure allows us to get to know the dogs very well, and then to place them in homes where they can shine. As a rescue of foster homes, we do not have a physical shelter you can visit at any given time. We do hold monthly "Meet and Greet" days at local businesses where potential adoptive families can come and meet our available pups. The dates for the Meet and Greets will be posted under News at the top of the page. We also can set up individudal meetings with pre-approved families at any time that works for all parties involved. For more information on the pre-approval process, please contact us. We would love to add foster homes to our organization to maximize the number of dogs we can bring up each time. Fostering is a great way to meet and care for many dogs. Fostering with us is just once a month (when you are able) and it generally lasts from 2-4 weeks. It can help to socialize and exercise existing dogs...and of course, it is incredibly rewarding to see these lovely little dogs from often-horrific beginnings go into secure homes in our region. If you are interested, please e-mail us. |

Our Dogs |
||
| The majority
of our dogs come from Second Chance Animal Rescue in Puerto Rico, a highly-respected
rescue fighting to saves lives one at a time on an island where stray
dogs are the norm. The dogs are mostly mutts of medium size, although
there are always exceptions. Please take all the "breeds" of dogs listed with a grain of salt. Petfinder
requires a breed for a pet to be listed, but most of the time they are
our best guess based on their looks and size. Dogs of very mixed background are called "satos" in Puerto Rico. Generally our dogs are just good ol'-fashioned
mutts -- mixes of mixes of mixes. And we love 'em that way! Our dogs come fully vaccinated (the full DHLPP series, Rabies, and Bordatella), heartworm negative, and spayed/neutered. We pride ourselves on very healthy well-cared-for dogs. Here are recent quotes from some of our adoptive parents: "The vet said he was very pleased at how well he looks..and said that Wynn Dog Rescue did alot of vet visits, shots, etc..and he's one of the best looking rescue dogs he's seen in a very long time. " "Last Saturday she had her first vet visit, and I wanted to make sure to tell you how impressed the vet was with all the paperwork that she had. They had never seen a sato with so much info. They thought it was an excellent job by your organization and Second Chance." |

An application must be filled out before we can set up a meeting with a specific dog. With the application, we are looking what sort of home you provide, that your current pets are well cared for, and that a dog (or an additional dog) is the right fit for you. By requesting information on an animal and initiating the screening process, it is not a guarantee that the particular animal that you have inquired about is yours to adopt. This is only the first stage of the adoption process. The Wynn Dog Rescue does not place our animals on a "first come, first served" basis, but does adopt to the best home possible for the animal. Generally, our mission is to find the right match for you and the rescue so that all parties can live happily ever after! If a dog is here in the area, after an application is completed, an appointment can be made with the foster family to meet the dog. If the dog is still located in Puerto Rico, we can make arrangments for the dog can arrive on the next rescue shipment for you to meet. The adoption fee for our dogs is $250 -- This covers the costs for the dog's vet care, a full set of shots, and the spay or neuter (or, depending on how you look at it, these same costs for the next rescue in line!) Most of this money is returned to Second Chance Animal Rescue in Puerto Rico. The remainder is used toward dogs in foster care, any medical expenses, and to run our Adoption Days. |

Every one of us at Wynn Dog Rescue is so excited about our latest success story, Oscar a.k.a Osky! Osky has traveled a long and difficult road and is finally in the home of his dreams! He was found and rescued by a local couple after his leg was broken, it appeared, by the people that were feeding him. It’s inconceivable to us too but this couple brought him to the local vet where he spent 2 months recuperating. When he arrived in the U.S., his leg had healed but he was still very, understandably, fearful of people. Two of our foster families worked with him for 4 months to help erase that fear so that the right adoptive family could see the true Osky shine through. And it worked – and it finally happened! We received the following from Osky’s new family, Danielle and Peter: Oscar is doing GREAT! He's adjusted to us and the new house and schedule. I've attached some pictures from the first weekend of Peter and Oscar having some snuggle time on the couch together. He's taken to Peter much faster than I think any of us expected. He still follows me everywhere, Peter calls him "mommy's shadow". His first "play date" with the neighbors and their dog Abbey was perfect. Both dogs were beyond happy to have someone their size to mess around with and he warmed up very quickly to Abbey's humans, he made 2 or 3 low grumbles and when I said "it's okay Osky, they're okay" he immediately was quiet and his tail was wagging away! He has been a dream. It's all most as if he's been part of this family for years! He's full of tail wags, big sweet kisses, and affectionate snuggles. His picure is on my desk at work and everyone says how handsome he is, and where he came from. I tell them all about your organization and how great of a dog he is and the joys of adopting a dog that really needs your love. I can't thank you all enough for everything you've done for Oscar and what you do for these sweet dogs that have had a rough start. I will absolutely continue to keep you all updated on this handsome boy and the progress that he's making, and of course photo's! Danielle and Peter – we can’t thank YOU enough!! Osky’s journey towards his perfect home is finally over!

Next, and certainly as deserving, is Molly. With a face like this, you can see why her new family fell in love with her! We heard from her Mom, Denise, recently: Molly is doing just great! She is spoiled and loved to death by all except Theo (the alpha male cat). He still lets her know who's boss. Petey and she are great friends and he loves to sleep next to her. She knows I'm her 'mom' and is always by my side. I get the best greetings too! She loves to play and goes 2X week now to doggie day care; not cheap, but well worth it. She gets great socialization and exercise and they just adore her there. She LOVES to go too and play with the other dogs. She enjoys going for ice cream, and running on the beach in Maine, or climbing the rocks. She really is a doll. I can't believe it's been close to a year now! She is still timid with strangers, especially men, and sudden movements. I think this will stay with her forever. People think she is the cutest thing and still a puppy! Thank you so much, Denise, for helping Molly to be another success story! We look forward to many more! Click on Happy Tails for pictures of our recently adopted dogs and their new families! |

We can never thank you enough for your support of this cause and these loving and deserving pups. Please also consider supporting those that support us. A special thanks to these local businesses for their continued interest in our dogs. |
