Although Animal Allies does not have a shelter to display our adoptable cats, the kind folks at Pet Quarters, Shaw's Plaza, South Willow Street, Manchester, have provided us with space so that potential adopters can meet some of the cats/kittens we have available. They have been our adoption partners since the doors opened in Manchester and we have been able to adopt hundreds of cats/kittens because of them. THANK YOU PET QUARTERS!!
We also have adoptable cats/kittens at Pawsitive Pet Nutrition, 60 Beech Street, Manchester, NH. Gail has been a great help finding wonderful homes for our kitties.
Please join us on the first Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for our adoptathons which will be held at Pet Supplies Plus, 1328 Hooksett Road, Unit 12, Hooksett, NH (next to Walmart). We will have lots of cats of all shapes and sizes with us available for adoption. For pre-approval, an online application can be completed at www.animalallies.org.
Animal Allies is in need of barn homes!! All cats placed in barn homes will be altered and vaccinated and there will be no adoption fee (donations are happily accepted however). We typically send cats in pairs and we require that they be held in a crate for at least 3 weeks in the barn so that they can become acclimated to the area. We would be happy to provide instructions and supplies for holding cats. Please consider helping unsocialized/feral cats by providing a safe place for them to live!!! Call 603-228-6755 for more information or if you are able to help.
We will be having our annual yard sale on June 13, 2009 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 741 Page St., Manchester, NH. If you have some gently used items to donate, please call Doris at 668-4883. No computer equipment please!!
Our primary focus is to end pet overpopulation. We work with existing low-cost spay neuter assistance programs and local veterinarians and provide financial assistance to individuals to have their animals altered. Our volunteers retrieve messages from the Spay Line (1-800-990-SPAY), a toll free message center sponsored by STOP (Solutions to Overpopulation of Pets). We advise pet owners in the State of New Hampshire of the best assistance programs available to them.
We also focus our efforts on feral cat colony management, employing the Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) philosophy. We have fully funded hundreds of spay/neuter surgeries for these cats and work on several colonies throughout the state of New Hampshire. After we assess, trap, neuter and board cats from a colony, we only return cats to areas that have a caregiver and adequate shelter. We also rescue, socialize, neuter and adopt out young ferals or strays from these colonies.
A completed adoption application is required in order to adopt an animal from Animal Allies. Volunteers will conduct a vet check to ensure that all of your existing pets are altered and up to date on vaccines. Also, if you rent, your landlord will be contacted to ensure that you are allowed to have pets. All animals that are adopted from Animal Allies will be altered and up to date on vaccines prior to adoption. You can complete an adoption application online by visiting www.animalallies.org.
