Information About Our Location...

Let us explain where we are located!

The Happy Valley-Goose Bay S.P.C.A. is located in Goose Bay, Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Labrador is part of Newfoundland, but where Newfoundland is an island, Labrador is located right next to Quebec, Canada. Our Shelter is located in a very remote area. It is a 36 hr. drive (one way) to the nearest major centre (Halifax) and the only means of travel out of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is one gravel road or by air. Air travel is extremely expensive as is shipping. We can not, therefore, ship dogs to any locations other than Newfoundland or Halifax. All shipping costs must be incurred by the person adopting an animal. We can not ship to the U.S. at all due to the needles required and the outrageous shipping costs.

News

S.P.C.A. staff are available for Shelter tours as well as giving educational talks to groups such as Brownies, Cubs, Scouts, Guides, schools, etc. Our staff would speak on such issues as the humane treatment of all animals, animal abuse and responsible pet ownership. If you are interested in a visit, or a tour, please contact the Shelter to make arrangements.

We are located on what was formerly called the "old Canadian side". The shelter is located on Winnipeg Street, which is the same street that the Husky House is located on and the shelter is located between the Husky House and Universal Helicopters. We are at the other end of the block from where the swimming pool is located. We are a small white building with a huge dog bone sign on it that says S.P.C.A.
