Our new featured pet is our oldest resident, "Shep". He was found as a stray on a farm. He is a good dog with a great temperment. Shep is housebroken, quiet, non destructive and loves people. He gets really excited and bounces on his front legs when he knows he's getting a treat:) Shep's only reason for not being adopted yet (almost a year) is his age. He is estimated to be about 8 yrs old but his health is perfect and he has lots of energy and love left to give someone.

Who We Are
We are a no kill animal shelter that can house up to 15 dogs and 10 cats comfortably. We strive to make them better pets when they leave than they were when they came. We also help with Colorado and Nebraska pet transports!! Three of our dogs have even flown to Canada!! Our shelter is attached to the local veterinary hospital so each animal is examined frequently and is healthy prior to adoption.
Adopting a friend
We have an adoption application to be filled out including personal and veterinary references. The adoption fees are very low because we have the wonderful support of local donors to help out. The animals here get the best care possible no matter their condition when they arrive. And everyone is spayed and neutered before they leave. This is included in the adoption fee to help ensure unwanted litters don't "accidentally" happen after adoption. Also all of our pet food is donated by Hill's Science Diet for the cost of shipping only. They donate one free adopter bag with every lucky animal going to a new forever home.
Come Visit Us!
Just 18 miles from the Colorado border and 20minutes south of Ogallalla(Lake Maconaghy) we are easy to find. Our location is just 1/2 block south of the intersection of Nebraska state highways 23 and 61. There is a large sign for the Perkins County Veterinary Hospital on Highway 61 now!! The building is just West of the self storage units. We also help with Colorado and Nebraska transport so don't be shy about expoloring the animals here, we'll get them there!!
