Who We Are

The Scotts Bluff County Pound is an animal shelter that is provided by the county of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska, to serve its residents. Animals that pose a risk to the citizens of the county, as well as stray animals and county-resident owned pets that are unwanted are brought into our shelter. Animals are then held for a 3 business day time period in order to allow owners to locate them. After this 3 day time, adoptable animals are placed up for adoption--hoping that wonderful families come forward to take care of them.

Adopting a friend

An adoption application must be filled out completely, including references and vaccination histories of existing pets. Once the application is completed, there is a 24 hour waiting period while the application is evaluated. If approved, the animal may go home as soon as the spay/neuter surgery is completed. All pets MUST be spayed or neutered and given a rabies vaccination (if old enough) prior to releasing to new owners. No guarantees are made about the animals adopted from our shelter. Most animals are stray when they enter the pound and we do not know if they have a history of medical or behavioral problems. The adoptive owner accepts all responsibility for the health of the pet after the time of adoption.
