Who We Are
Boston Terrier Rescue in Nebraska was founded in 1998. In 2004, it evolved into Nebraska Boston Terrier Rescue, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, all-volunteer organization. Nebraska Boston Terrier Rescue exists to rescue Boston terriers that are surrendered, unwanted, homeless, mistreated, neglected, stray or slated for euthanasia. Boston terrier mixes are considered on an individual basis. Nebraska Boston Terrier Rescue serves the state of Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
We strive to rehome the rescued Boston terrier and provide foster care in a loving home environment until a happy, safe and forever home is found.
Monetary donations are how we help our rescued Bostons get medical care. Any amounts are appreciated. All donations are tax deductible and you will be sent a receipt. Gift certificates to PetCo and PetSmart are also welcomed. Please make checks payable to NBTR and send to address below or call Jennifer at 402-691-0576. If you use a credit card please put your name and address in the comments section so I know where to send a tax deductible receipt.

We adopt to the states of NE, CO, IA, MO, KS, SD, WY and MN. We are located and operate out of Omaha, Nebraska. Please note that NBTR does not have a facility that can be visited. All our dogs live with a family in their home until they are adopted.
The first step to adopting a rescue dog is completing an adoption application, which NBTR will email you in response to your email to Jenjen25@aol.com.
If there are no Bostons currently listed meet your wants I urge you to go ahead and complete the adoption application to get your name on file. Bostons arrive into our program almost weekly. Applicants on file are considered first.
Each application is carefully reviewed to determine which Boston terrier in foster care would best fit your life style. If there is a Boston terrier that fits then you will be contacted you for a phone interview and to schedule a home visit. The purpose of a home visit is to meet the prospective adopters and to evaluate the appropriateness and safety of the home that will be provided for the new dog. The dog chosen for your family will also attend the home visit if convenient.
Each adoption consists of an adoption contract and an adoption fee. The adoption fees vary between $150-$400 based on the health, age and condition of the dog. This adoption fee helps cover vet expenses incurred by NBTR.
NBTR requires a completely fenced in area in order to qualify for adoption.
Every Boston terrier in rescue is retained and monitored for health and any behavioral issues before being adopted. All Boston terriers are spayed or neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated for diseases including rabies, distemper and parvo and any other medical needs are met prior to being adopted out. This ensures the Boston terrier's good health when he/she goes into his/her new adoptive home. All rescued Boston terriers are started on heartworm preventative and begin training within the foster home. Every effort is made to have all rescued Boston terriers potty trained before entering his/her new home.
What You Get with Your New Dog
NBTR provides a care package with each adoption. The care package includes a small bag of treats, some of the dog's favorite toys, a harness, heartworm preventative, all current vet records and a written profile on the dog providing documentation about your new family member so that making the transition to the new home will be an easy one.
If you need a crate we can offer a used crate with a donation of $20.
Adopting A Friend
We thank you for considering rescue when finding a new member of your family. You have many options when choosing your new family member such as the humane society and pet stores. We appreciate the fact that you are not purchasing your pet from a pet store that sells lives animals since most of those animals come from terrible situations such as puppy mills. For more information on puppy mills, visit www.prisonersofgreed.com.
Help control the overpopulation of cats and dogs by Spay and Neutering your pet.
Having to Rehome Your Boston
We want to start by thanking you for getting us involved when it comes to having to find a new home for your Boston. We hope to make this decision as easy as possible for you and your family, but also for your Boston. We accept all Bostons in any condition and at any age as long as space is available.
If you have any questions about our adoption procedures or would like copies of any of our forms or documentation please do not hesitate to ask.
The first step is emailing Jenjen25@aol.com or call 402-691-0576. We will then forward you our surrender form which you will be required to complete. Someone will then contact with you by phone.
Your Boston will be transported to Omaha, Nebraska where he/she will be placed in foster care until their 'forever home' is found. While in foster care we are able to monitor their health and personality in order to make the right match. In the meantime we will take care of any needed medical needs.
How You Can Help
For those individuals who live in the Omaha Metro area donating your used/new crate is a great way to support rescue. We are always in need of toys, medium size harnesses, blankets and leashes.
You can volunteer your time to help at our rescue booth, transport rescue dogs and complete homevisits. Volunteers are needed in all eight states that we service: NE, WY, CO, SD, IA, KS, MN and MO. For a volunteer application or questions please email Jenjen25@aol.com.
FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!
NBTR is in high demand for more foster homes in the Omaha, NE area and surrounding towns.
A foster home is a home where a rescued, unwanted or otherwise needy Boston terrier can live and be loved until a permanent home is available that meets its special needs. Foster homes are not for persons just wanting to adopt a Boston terrier. They are for persons willing to open their hearts and home to help the Boston terrier along its way, understanding that he/she will eventually be going to a "forever home".
To get started you will need to complete a foster application. We will also provide all the requirements. Once an application has been received back and reviewed, a rescue agent will contact you to schedule a home visit.
If you are interested in fostering please email Jenjen25@aol.com.
Thank you for helping a Boston Terrier in need!
