Rescue is about the good, the bad, the ugly and the old, the deaf, and the blind.
Please realize that it will take two or more weeks for a new dog to adjust to your family.
The adjustment time will be allot longer with a Puppymill dog.
Do not apply to adopt a dog if you think you can take the dog home and have it act like it has always lived there
on the first day or even in the first week.
Who We Are
I am located in South East Nebraska, in Cortland on 5 Acres of land. I specialize in rehabbing ex-Puppymill , abused , neglected , emaciated dogs under 20 pounds. We do not accept terriers, unless they are real old and calm. We are Pekingese Rescue for Nebraska , Kansas , Iowa , Missouri and South Dakota.
We are a NO KILL home , no dog is put down unless they are terminally ill and suffering and there is nothing our Vet can do for them. Ex-Puppymill dog who are to scared to ever come around , get all the time they need to get the nerve up to interact with people. If they want to hang out here under my computer desk forever , then they can.
You can also help us by giving a home to a pet, or if you cannot adopt at this time, consider donating supplies from our wish list:
* paper towels
* cleaning and laundry supplies
* vitamin powder , pet tab makes granules to stir in the food
* bone meal powder from www.upco.com
* gift cards from Walmart for FOOD , we do not feed dog food here.
* leashes and collars of all sizes
* monetary donations to pay our vet for his services
* flea prevention and heartworm tablets
If you or someone you know is thinking about getting their puppy at a pet store, Moe , Nikki , Joy , Susie and Ray Charles would like you to read their stories first.
Adopting a friend
All dogs are Spayed/Neutered , up-to-date on all shots , Heartworm tested and given a Heartworm prevention, groomed, their teeth are cleaned and any other thing they need to be healthy.

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.

There is so much to carry

and Loss, And there by my leash hides Fear and
Shame. As I look on these things I tried so hard to
leave - I still have to unpack my baggage called
Pain. I loved them, the others, the ones who left
me, But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want
me. Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me
unpack? Or will you just look at my things - And
take me right back? Do you have the time to help me
unpack? To put away my baggage, To never repack? I
pray that you do - I'm so tired you see, But I do
come with baggage - Will you still want me?

Blind dogs
I cannot see you Mommy, when you cuddle me so near.
And yet I know you love me, it's in the words I hear.
I cannot see you Daddy, when you hold me by your side
But still I know you love me when you tell me so with pride.
I cannot see to run and play out in the sun so bright
For here inside my tiny head it's always dark as night.
I cannot see the treats you give when I am extra good
But I can wag my tail in Thanks just like a good dog should.
"She cannot see. The dogs no good" is what some folks might say
"She can't be trained, she'll never learn She must be put away."
But not you, Mom and Daddy You know that it's alright
Because I love you just as much as any dog with sight.
You took me in, you gave me love and we will never part
Because I'm blind with just my eyes, I see you in my heart. ---
