Wag N Train Terrier Rescue is made up of a small group of very dedicated terrier lovers working towards the common goal of helping abandoned, stray, and unwanted terriers. We specialize in Westies, Scotties, Cairns and other small terrier breeds. While in our care, our rescue dogs learn basic house manners in addition to crate training and walking on a leash. Dogs who have mastered these skills may also learn other simple commands such as "sit" and "down" while in the care of their foster families.
Adopting A Friend For Life
A completed adoption application is required to begin the adoption process. We require both personal and veterinary references, which will be checked by one of our volunteers. If your application is selected as a good candidate for the dog you have applied to adopt, you will be contacted, either by email or phone, to schedule a courtesy home visit with one of our volunteers. The home visit report is then sent to our Board of Directors for review. Please understand that we are looking for the very best placements for our rescue dogs and may have multiple applications for the same dog. The applicant who is selected to adopt will be chosen based on ability to provide the best environment for the individual needs and requirements for that particular dog. Our adoptions are not based on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Please click here for an adoption application.
Come Visit Us!
As our dogs are housed in private foster homes, visitation is not possible until your adoption application has been received and approved. We take part in many public adoption events with our foster dogs, which is an ideal time for you and your family to visit! Our foster families meet at Petsmart at Shadow Lake Mall on the second Saturday of January, March, May, July, September, and November from 1-3:00 p.m. Alternating months of February, April, June, August, and October will find us at Petco at 132 & Maple from 1-3 p.m.
Come meet us at Soggy Paws at 14th & Jackson in the Old Market on January 21 from 1-3 p.m.
Our group will take part in the Nebraska Humane Society's "Taylor Made Rescue Rally on February 18, the I LOVE MY DOG EXPO in Lincoln NE on February 25 & 26, and the Omaha Home & Builders Show held at the CenturyLink Center on March 29 through April 1.
Each Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. we host a small dog/puppy playgroup at Bark Avenue Dog Grooming and Day Care at 153 & Maple. This is open to the public for dogs under 30 pounds for a minimal donation of $5. Please email us at wagntrainterrierrescue@yahoo.com for more information on our event participation or our play groups.
