The Humane Society Fargo-Moorhead is a non-profit organization dedicated to:
The prevention of cruelty to animals
The relief of suffering among animals
The extension of humane education
The providing of humane care and treatment for all animals needing protection
The seeking to return lost animals to their owners
The seeking of homes for animals without owners
Providing euthanasia when necessary
The Humane Society Fargo-Moorhead was organized in 1966 to serve the animals and communities of Cass and Clay counties. We are a pound rescue organization that takes in animals from the three municipal pounds after their time is up and their owners have not claimed them. Before the animals arrive at our facility, they are examined by veterinary staff and given all their shots. These animals stay with us until they are adopted and we provide medical care as needed. Every effort is placed into the rehabilitation and placement of all of our animals
Adopting a friend
If an adopted animal has not yet been sterilized, $75 of the adoption fee is refunded after the spay/neuter is done.
Puppies and kittens under 4 months of age have NOT been given their rabies vaccination. Any animal over 8 weeks old has been given their first series of vaccinations. All booster vaccinations are the responsibility of the adoptor.
Adoption fees also include de-worming and parasite check or treatment for all animals. All of our cats and dogs available for adoption are microchipped also. Upon adoption, a goodie bag with samples and coupons are sent home with every adopted animal!
All of our cats and kittens are tested for FeLV/FIV and some dogs are tested for heartworm (depending on the season). If a dog has not been heartworm tested, we strongly urge adoptors to do so.
