Looking to Adopt a Special Cat or Kitten?
HSAC is pleased to be partnered with PetsMart in their in-house cat adoption program. Many of our cats and kittens available for adoption can be seen at PetsMart in Burlington, NC - exit 140 off I-85/I-40.
Who We Are
The Humane Society of Alamance County is a non-profit organization located in Alamance County dedicated to working toward eliminating the pet overpopulation problem through spay/neuter and education. In the process, we strive to save as many animals as possible. We offer a low cost spay/neuter package, education programs, medical assistance for those in financial need, and strong community support through counseling on animal care and behavior issues.
Adopting a friend
HSAC strives to match animals with adopters according to the adopter's life style and needs and the termperament, exercise requirements and needs of the animal. If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us. The first step is an application and an interview. Applicants must be 21 years of age and live in a location where pets are allowed. All animals must be spayed or neutered. One of our representatives will make a home visit before the adoption is finalized. Our adoption fee is $100 for dogs and $85.00 for cats. The fee includes the spay/neuter surgery, initial shots and deworming. Dogs at least 6 months old are tested for heartworms. Cats are combo tested for aids/leukemia.

The Humane Society of Alamance does not currently have a shelter location and is not set up for drop-in visitors. Please email or call to make an appointment to see a particular animal.
Or, come and visit us at a regularly scheduled adoption fairs. Please click on the organization's link above for fair locations and times.
All of our animals are cared for through a network of dedicated private foster homes. We are currently looking for qualified foster homes. If you are interested in fostering a homeless pet for a short while, please call or email and ask for a foster package, which will include a Foster Parent Application and a copy of our Foster Parent Guidelines.
Things We Need
You can help HSAC's foster dogs with what you are already buying! save your Purina Dog food weight circles for the HSAC. All weights are accepted but, unfortunately, only dog food weight circles. The circles are sent back to Purina for valuable coupons that help support the foster program.
If you would like to help us by making a donation, you can mail a check, made out to the HSAC, to PO Box 5117, Burlington, NC 27216. Please let us know your check is earmarked for the Foster Program. The HSAC is very grateful for your generosity and support of our rescue efforts!
