Snow White, a 5-year-old albino Doberman, came to Carolina P.A.W.S. when her adopter could no longer care for her. She had lived with her adopter for only two months. Prior to this her home was animal control, where she was treated for heartworms, malnutrition - and pain and inflammation from a broken leg. Where Snow White originated, or how her leg was broken, only Snow White knows.
At the time of her rescue, Snow White had spent several days at the vet being treated for infection and pain. It appeared she’d spend the rest of her life on Rimadyl and Tramadol, which would take a toll on her stomach and liver. We brought her to Dr. Laura Morefield at Rea Road Animal Hospital to see if anything else could be done. Dr. Morefield recommended continued pain management, but cautioned that if Snow White did not recover to an acceptable level of comfort, her leg would have to be amputated. She then consulted with Dr. Mertens at Carolina Veterinary Specialists. Perhaps a fusion of the ankle could save her from a lifetime of debilitating pain?
The good news is that Dr. Mertens thinks he can fix Snow White’s leg. The bad news is that to get her the surgery, we need to raise at least $3000.
Carolina P.A.W.S. has partnered with Special Needs Dobermans to raise funds for Snow White, but we need everyone’s help. Please do your part for this sweet, gentle girl by making a tax-deductible donation. She has suffered so much already. Now we have a chance to give her a happy, pain-free life.

Millions of homeless pets are euthanized in shelters every year. Countless others die on the streets every day. Why do so many wonderful pets die every year? Simply because there just are not enough homes for all of them. Our adoption programs give a second chance to pets with no other chance of survival. We provide foster homes, veterinary care, and education and spaying/neuter assistance.
