Kitty City is a project of Cabarrus CARES, a Coalition of Animal Rescue Efforts and Services. Kitty City and Cabarrus CARES are a volunteer-supported, 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
Kitty City is first and foremost an animal education center. We go in to area schools, free of charge, and educate children about animal care, the importance of spaying and neutering, and animal safety. We also provide these services to groups such as scouts, Boys and Girls clubs, etc.
Kitty City's second function is as a feline adoption center. We receive most all of our cats from local veterinary offices and seek to place them in good homes. All of our cats can be met at our location in downtown Concord at 30 S Union St.
Our adoption fee is $100 for adult cats and $125 for kittens. This fee goes towards veterinary care, spay/neuter, shots, and operating expenses. All of our cats are spayed or neutered. Those too young will have their alteration paid for by Kitty City and provided by the Cabarrus Spay/Neuter Clinic on N Church Street.
We are open from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
We are located in historic downtown Concord, among the shops and cafes on Union Street. We are less than one block south of Cabarrus Ave on S Union St. Please follow the directions below or click here for a map.
From Charlotte:
Via North Tryon / US 29 -Follow N Tryon / US 29 to Concord. Break right onto Cabarrus Avenue (at the Mynatt GM Dealerships). Follow Cabarrus Ave to Union Street. Turn Right on Union and follow less than one block to Kitty City
Via I-85 -
Follow I-85 to the Concord / Kannapolis Exit (#58 US 29/601) Exit on South 29/601 towards Concord. Follow 29/601 South and Break Left on to N Church Street at the fork in the road (just past the Carolina Mall, Next to the Hospital). Follow N Church Street to Buffalo Ave and turn Right (next to Danny's and Locke Mill Plaza). Make an immediate Left on N Union and follow downtown to Kitty City (on the right past Cabarrus Ave).
From Lake Norman:
Follow the Davidson-Concord Highway (NC 73) to Concord. Make a Left at the intersection of 73 and 601, then make a Right on Davidson Dr (Look For Harris Teeter on the left and Applebee's on the right). Follow Davidson Dr, which will turn in to southbound N Church St. Follow N Church Street to Buffalo Ave and turn Right (next to Danny's and Locke Mill Plaza). Make an immediate Left on N Union and follow downtown to Kitty City (on the right past Cabarrus Ave).
From Salisbury and places North:
Follow I-85 South to the Concord/Kannapolis exit (#58 Hwy 29/601). Follow the "Via I-85" directions under the "From Charlotte" heading
