Rockingham County has a new animal shelter! The Rockingham County Animal Shelter held its Grand Opening on May 21, 2011. This shelter exists to help our community but it will only be successful if the community will help the shelter.

RCAS needs you! Please come out and help the animals. You can:

• answer the phone
• exercise/groom adoptable pets
• help keep the cat and dog kennel areas clean
• collect items that the shelter needs, such as paper towels, trash bags, etc
• promote pet adoption
• help get adoptable pets listed in the media
• take photos/information about incoming adoptable animals
• help transport animals to approved rescue organizations
• meet and greet the public 
• teach people how to care for pets
• raise money to help the shelter

These are just a few suggestions. Whatever your passion or ability, it can be used to help the animals.  If you have time or a talent, RCAS can use you!

 The companion animals at the shelter make wonderful pets. Please call the shelter to find out if there are any current adoption specials!

DOGS $110.00

Includes:

• Spay/Neuter
• Microchip
• Rabies Shot
• DA2PPV
• Bordetella
• De-worming
• Heartworm Test (For dogs over 6 months)

CATS $80.00

Includes:

• Spay/Neuter
• Microchip
• Rabies Shot
• FVRCP
• De-Worming
• FELV/FIV Tests

REDEMPTION FEE:	$25.00
DAILY BOARDING FEE:	$12.00 a day for dogs / $10.00 a day for cats
BITE QUARANTINE FEE:	$16.00 a day
RABIES SHOT FEE:	$10.00

RCAS serves Rockingham County, North Carolina.  The facility includes a large kennel area for dogs, modern facilities for cats, an adoption wing, and a bonding area. There is also a quarantine area to help reduce the spread of illness.
