Foster Homes Needed!

Annie's Rescued Friends is in desperate need of foster homes. We are simply turning away too many wonderful cockers because of lack of space. We provide all medical care, grooming, and food for all our fosters... all you need provide is TLC! Please make a difference in this heartbreaking overpopulation problem and help save a life and give a homeless animal that second chance they all deserve.

We're currently looking for foster homes in Huntersville/Cornelius, Charlotte and Gaston County areas. If you're interested in talking with us about fostering, please go to our website at www.anniesrescue.org and fill out our Foster/Volunteer form.

A homeless animal is waiting...

Starfish - and Cockers

As the old man walked along the beach at dawn, he noticed a young man ahead of him picking up starfish and flinging them into the sea. Finally catching up with the youth, he asked him why he was doing this. The answer was that the stranded starfish would die if left in the morning sun. "But, the beach goes on for miles and there are millions of starfish, "countered the old man. "How can your effort make any difference?" The young man looked at the starfish in his hand and threw it to the safety of the waves. "It makes a difference to this one," he said.

Who We Are

Annie's Rescued Friends, ARF, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless cocker spaniels. We will also accept other select breeds of dogs when our space permits us to do so. Our rescued dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, fecal and heartworm tested. Any other medical needs are addressed and taken care of prior to adoption. Our goal is to adopt out healthy, happy, well-socialized dogs to become lifetime members of your family. If you would like to learn more about our organization, please visit our website at http://www.anniesrescue.org/.

Our Philosophy

ARF, Inc. believes in the holistic approach in caring for and restoring our rescues to optimum health. We feed a holistic diet and use all natural treats. Our goal is to educate the public on how food choices can play a very important role in the overall health of your companion animal.

The Chandler Fund

The Chandler Fund is a special medical fund set up by ARF, Inc. to help special need cockers that require medical needs far above what our regular rescue account can provide funds for. Most of the donations from the Chandler Fund will be used when a cocker needs to be seen by a specialist or needs heartworm treatment. These types of medical issues are the ones that drain our regular account. However, we at ARF are committed to helping the special need/senior cockers. Rescue is not all about saving the young, healthy ones. We want to make a difference for the seniors and special need cockers. We at ARF, Inc. feel they deserve a life just like the younger ones and do not deserve to be put to sleep because they are older or have special medical needs.

The Chandler Fund was set up in honor of a very special ARF rescue Chandler. Chandler was dumped into the shelter heartworm positive and blind from cataracts. After being rescued by ARF, Chandler was treated for heartworms, given his shots, neutered and then, as the FIRST benefactor of the Chandler Fund, he had cataract surgery and his eyesight has been restored! Chandler is loving life today and sends plenty of cocker kisses to everyone for giving him a most precious gift...the gift of sight! This fund, set up in his honor, will be an ongoing fund and will go on to help many more cockers!

Adoption Process

Our adoption process begins with an online adoption application. Members of ARF, Inc. will review applications on a regular basis and contact you by email. We try very hard to match the right dog with the right home. Once an application has been approved and the applicant's vet references checked, we will arrange a home visit with you and bring the dog you are interested in to see if the chemistry is right between the dog and your family. We encourage all four legged members of your family to be present during a home visit!

The final stage is the signing of the adoption contract. At this time, a $250.00 adoption fee is required to help us offset the enormous expenses in taking care of all our dogs. We will be available after the adoption to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Our policy is to stand behind our dogs and their families for life.

How You Can Help

Many people ask us how they can help ARF, Inc if they are not in a position to permanently adopt one of our rescues. Below are some great ways to help us continue saving lives and giving homeless animals the second chance they all deserve.

Fostering

Fostering is an amazing gift to give an homeless animal! You will care, train and love this animal while they live in your home until a permanent home can be found. The time they will be with you varies from animal to animal, usually on the average between 3-6 months. A foster parent is a special person that must be able to give up an animal when the permanent home is found. ARF provides all the vet care for our foster animals. We ask that you provide their food, if you can, and nothing more than a lot of TLC! If you have the time and heart to devote to fostering, please contact us at loveanniesrescue@yahoo.com.

Donations

Monetary donations are always needed and gratefully accepted. All donations are only used to care for the animals as we are an all volunteer organization with no paid employees. Besides our vet bills, money is always needed for food, treats, toys, heartworm prevention, shampoos, grooming, crates, beds, etc. The monthly expense to care for all our animals is constantly growing. Donations can be mailed to our administrative office at : ARF, Inc., 15841 Kelly Park Circle, Huntersville, NC 28078 or, for you convenience, you can click on the PayPal link below and send your donation this fast, secure way. Our homeless animals say "THANK YOU!"

Sponsorships

What a urgent need this is! We have many homeless animals that come through our door that require extensive medical care. Some have such extensive medical issues that they are permanent fosters and will be with us for the remainder of their lives. Many are seniors that have been dumped in shelters after a lifetime of devotion to their former families. The volunteers at ARF, Inc. feel very strongly about continuing helping these special need animals but we simply can not do it without your help. Please go onto Annie's Adoptable Friends link and read each dog's story that has "sponsor "under his/her name. Find a face and story that touches your heart, and become their sponsor. Your name, city and state will go under each dog you sponsor as their special angel. You can make a monthly donation for your "dog", a yearly donation for them or set it up anyway you like. You tell us how you would like to financially sponsor them. We will send you email updates on your "dog" and furnish you with pictures. Many people want to send gifts to their "dog" on certain holidays and we can tell you, they love that! This is one of the greatest ways to help our special need animals!

Volunteering

Volunteers are the lifeline of this organization. We simply could not continue our work for the animals without them. We have amazing, dedicated volunteers and we are always looking for more! We all feel everyone needs to give back to their community and if working with animals is your gift to give back, please contact us. There are hundreds of ways to help us from dedicating a Saturday to bathing dogs and playing with them to helping with fundraising. Think about how you would like to help and contact us!

Our administration office is located in Huntersville, NC. We currently do not have a facility available and all of our rescues are in individual foster homes. The foster homes are provided by private individuals willing to help to rehabilitate and socialize the rescues. Anyone interested in meeting the cockers must first have an approved application on file and then we will arrange for you to see the cockers that you may be interested in adopting. You can contact us by email for information on the dogs available for adoption. All appointments to view animals will be on weekends after an approved application.
