Our Adoptable Pet List

Adopting a friend from Safe Harbor Farm

If you're ready to commit to a long-term relationship with a four-legged buddy and interested in being an active participant in making the relationship work (even before you pick your new partner!), we're equally interested in helping you find the perfect match (even if its not one of "our" foster-friends). If you tend to trade pets as if they were boxes of cereal to be returned to the store when the flavor doesn't suit you, we're the wrong group for you.

Our adoption process takes a few days, and it begins with you reading our "Adopt a Friend" page at www.safeharborfarm.org and filling out an adoption application at the bottom of the page. As soon as we get your application, we'll call your veterinary references. If you get an enthusiastic "thumbs up" from your vet, we'll then call you to answer any questions you might have and invite you to Safe Harbor, where you'll have plenty of time to meet the dogs and enjoy a walk in the woods before making the important decision of adding to your family.

The best way to get more information

(1) Visit www.safeharborfarm.org and double-click on the button that says "Adopt a Friend." Read the whole page to learn more about our adoption policies, adoption fees and our adoption application. You'll also find information about where SHF dogs come from and what they've been given at our facility.
(2) Then fill out an adoption application. You do not have to know which dog you want in order to apply, but pre-qualification IS required to visit SHF's dogs..

Who We Are

Eight years young, Safe Harbor Farm is located between Jacksonville and New Bern, NC. There, a small group of hard-working volunteers have built a 61-acre K-9 Rescue & Rehabilitation Center with walking trails for dogs & families, a spring-fed pond and lots of healthy, happy dogs being fostered for adoption.

Affordable spay-neuter is our only mode of population control, and helping to foster life-long human-animal relationships through action and education is our goal.
