Who We Are

Pender Animal Rescue (PAR) is a 100% ALL VOLUNTEER group of Shelter Helpers providing foster care & adoption for animals rescued from the Pender County Animal Control & other area shelters. We do not have paid volunteers, nor a shelter. Because we have no overhead, all monies donated are used solely for the care of our foster animals.

The animals in our program were scheduled to be euthanized prior to coming to foster care. Pets in our program stay in foster care until their forever home finds them. However long that takes. We do not euthanize healthy adoptable animals to make room for more.

Also, one of our volunteers has a special love & knowledge of Chows. Please contact Paula for all you Chow questions. Please note that this only includes purebred Chows. References available.

We use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. If you would like to donate a bed to us, click here.

Adopting a friend

Adoption is Easy! If you are a responsible pet owner you automatically qualify as an excellent candidate. We strive for quality adoptions, not volume adoptions.

Adoption requirements & fees for each pet vary & are included in the pet description.
An adoption application & contract is standard.

• A vet reference and home visit are required for each pet.
• ALL are spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
• We offer a 2 week trial period on all adoptions.
• During this 2 weeks the adoption fee is 100% refundable.
• After 2 weeks it is non-refundable.
• However, pets may be returned to our program at any time with advance notice.

  Come Visit Us!

  All pets featured are in foster care at volunteers homes. Please e-mail the foster home included in each pets description to arrange a meeting.
