Our Featured Pet...
Domingo!
Domingo is truly a wonderful find and one-of-a-kind! Found as a stray, he was brought into a local shelter walking on a dog leash! He instantly won the staff over and everyone eagerly waited for his owners to come looking for him; he was a neutered male after all! This is what he hs to say: But nobody came, and when my combo test came back positive for FIV the staff started to worry. You see, the shelter didn't adopt out FIV+ cats, but they found a way to whisk me off to safety with the help of Marley's Cat Tales! I LOVE people - all shapes and sizes, and will give headbutts :) As soon as I see someone stopping by, I stretch out on my tippy-toes and will reach out to push my head into your hands. That is how much I LOVE you :)

Who We Are
The Marley Fund is dedicated to making a difference in the fight against feline retroviruses, including both feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency viruses, through public service, promoting awareness and educating the public. Knowledge about feline diseases and their prevention is essential to the Fund’s mission of stopping the viral cycles and ultimately eradicating feline retroviruses. As the only national nonprofit dedicated to offering an alternative option to immediate euthanasia, we have created a safe haven for infected cats—where quality care and life enrichment are the primary concern.
Adopting a friend
MARLEY HOUSE : Greenville, NC
Marley House is a small donated space located in Greenville, NC, that is a safe haven for felines that are carriers of the feline leukemia virus (FeLV), and those who are asymptomatic (with no clinical signs of the disease). As there are no symptoms of FeLV, testing felines is the only way to diagnose the disease; therefore, many animals are plainly carriers of the virus, but are still contagious to other felines. For more information on FeLV, please see our Education, Testing, and Management of FeLV links on our web site at www.marleyfund.com for more information. Note: All information on our site on FeLV has been provided by the American Association of Feline Practitioners 2001 Report.
Marley House accepts FeLV positives from individual rescuers and other nonprofits throughout North Carolina and surrounding areas. Currently, we can only house 15 kitties, as our donated space is very small. These kitties have free roam of the space and are provided general care by Marley Fund Volunteers and medical treatments, when needed, by 10th Street Animal Hospital, also located in Greenville, NC.
If and when we find a responsible pet owner, who may have a FeLV positive kitty already that needs a friend, and/or one that truly understands this disease, our Marley House kitties may find a new purr-manent home with these new parents. This is what we live for, to educate those and give a positive feline a chance to live the life that they deserve.
Those who adopt these animals will be required to have a full understanding of the basics of Feline Leukemia Virus/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and the importance of housing these animals indoors without contact with other felines. Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus victims can live for many years and deserve a chance to prevail! As long as you, the pet owner, are responsible there is no need to euthanize a FeLV or FIV positive cat, with exception to a feline that is undergoing the notorious symptoms of the disease.
All Marley House kitties have all of their shots and vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered prior to going to their new homes for no charge to the prospective owners. MARLEY'S CAT TALES: Cary, NC
Marley's Cat Tales is the adoption division of Marley Fund located in Wake County. They are a no-kill rescue based in foster homes that strives to find homes for lost and unwanted animals and relieve overpopulation in the Raleigh area. Each adoptable cat is spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV, and given a one year rabies and FVRCP vaccination. Marley's Cat Tales rescue is dedicated to educating the community on FIV and decline leukemia, responsible pet ownership, furthering partnerships with other rescue groups and rescuing and finding homes for stray and abandoned animals. Cat Tales provides many opportunities for fulfilling volunteer work in a team environment as well offering options for those persons that would like to help in other ways - such as sponsorships, signing up with I give or becoming a foster home.
Consequently, all stray animals deserve assistance in a shelter where intake is not based on test results. According to the American Association of Feline Practitioners 2001 Report, “Cats infected with FIV or FeLV may live for many years. A decision for euthanasia should never be made solely on the basis of whether or not a cat is infected.” Marley’s Cat Tales Facility will offer a safe haven for all felines and will feature community rooms where animals can frolic and nap in a home-like setting. There will be a room for our sweet FIV babies, our FeLV babies, and rooms for our non-infected cats and kittens.
The addition of the Cat Tales Rescue to the Marley Fund family will be another step in expanding our educational programs on retroviruses FIV & FeLV, the need for testing to identify exposure, as well as proper testing protocol, responsible pet ownership, and the many ways to help the animals in need in our community. Marley's Cat Tales is strategically located in the second largest city in North Carolina where the cat overpopulation is critical.
As of October 1, 2005 the adoption and surrender information below will be in effect.
Adoption Information--
All Marley House & Marley's Cat Tales kitties have all of their shots and vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered prior to going to their new homes for no charge to the prospective owners. We require a $100 adoption fee which helps to defray our cost per month for medical care for each animal. We require prospective owners to be responsible, and to truly love and care for these animals, as we would and they deserve.
We do graciously accepted any donation for both facilities, checks can be written out to either Marley Fund for support of the Marley House, where FeLV victims reside, or to Marley's Cat Tales, where FIVs and non-infected felines reside. We have and will go to great links to assure a new home for our kitties, as we have found new parents in other states and have made arrangements to get the kitties to them via the American Airlines Priority Pet Program. Please know that we will make arrangements for an adoption anywhere in the United States.
Marley House (FeLV) Surrender Information--
We are currently full at this time and will not be accepting any more kitties to our safe haven until further notice. Please know that we will be glad to list a positive on our web site as a courtesy listing. To do this please contact us with information on your feline and a photograph.
However, when accepting new kitties in our safe haven, we must require that each animal is spayed or neutered and current on all shots (i.e. rabies, distemper, and all booster shots) prior to intake. We require you to bring the animal to us as well. We also require a $100 donation per animal towards their life enrichment and medical expense endured during his or her stay at the Marley House. Our commitment is to assure that each and every feline receives the best care and medical treatment when needed.
