Adoption fees are: $115.00 & up for cats; $125.00 & up for dogs. The Humane Society of Iredell would always appreciate any donation above that amount. Your donations help support other pets that incur higher medical costs beyond the standard shots, spaying or neutering. Humane Society of Iredell rescues pets that have been abandoned, neglected, and sometimes abused.

Our non-profit organization depends on donations in order to survive and so that we may continue our work rescuing animals and finding stable, happy homes for them. We are NOT supported by state, county, federal or governmental agencies. We are NOT supported by the Humane Society of the United States, nor any other rescue organization.

Most of our pets reside in temporary volunteer foster homes, and some of our cats are at PetSmart in Mooresville, NC. We do not currently have a shelter, but we have recently aquired a facility in Mooresville for that purpose in the future. Volunteers managing the website, email, and voicemail are not necessarily the same volunteers that are fostering our pets. Therefore, it may take a few days to get your inquiry to the proper person who can explain more about the pet. Please be patient with us...we are always very busy caring for our animals.
PROCESS: Please complete an adoption application IN FULL. You may download one from our website and fax it, or e-mail us as iredellhumane@yahoo.com for a Microsoft Word version. We try to match the right animal to the right home, for each animals' benefit. Please complete an application as your next step. It is not a commitment on your part, but helps us with the matchmaking process. Please give us as much information as possible to help us understand your lifestyle and home environment.
After your application is received, if we feel that you are a possible candidate for the animal you are interested in, or for one of our others, we will contact you. At that time, arrangements can be made for you to meet the pet.
We receive a high volume of email and phone calls, so please make sure that your application is complete to help our volunteers process requests of interest. Thank you for understanding.
Please read pet profiles carefully. We provide you the information that we are aware of, and we do work hard to supply you with every bit of information that we are aware of, regarding each cat or dog listed.

We hold CAT adoption events on a regular schedule at PetSmart in Mooresville. Our Adoption Events are the 2nd, 4th, and 5th (when applicable) Saturdays of the month, from 11:00 am until 3 pm. If you are interested in adopting a CAT, please come to PetSmart Mooresville (exit 36 off I-77on HWY 150) and meet your potential "forever" feline friend!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CAT ADOPTIONS AT PETSMART:
Please read the cat's profile. If they reside at PetSmart you may visit them on any day of the week to view them as they temporarily reside in the PetSmart cat room. Please see a Petsmart staff member to view our cats, and someone will help you. If it is one of our regular adoption event days (see above for dates and times), a Humane Society Volunteer can assist you. You will be required to fill out an application in full. All adoption procedures are the same with all of our pets.
All of our pets have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and are current on flea and heartworm prevention, which IS included in the adoption fee.
Please visit our website at www.iredellhumane.org for adoption information. There you will find an application and all information regarding adoptions. Please fill out an application and foward it to us. We will review it and if approved, you will be contacted by the pets' Volunteer Case Worker, and you can then make arrangements to meet the pet and discuss the details of the pet and the adoption process.
How to contact us
Please email us at iredellhumane@yahoo.com for adoption information after reviewing adoption procedures at our website www.iredellhumane.org .
If the pet you are interested on Petfinder.com states "adoption pending", it means they are currently in a new home for an adoption trial. We do not remove them from the site until the adoption becomes final at three weeks.
Out of state adoption policy
From time to time, we adopt out of state. However, we do not ship animals. You must provide transportation and all costs associated. We will adopt to out of state adopters when it is in the best interest of the pet.
News
SAVE A LIFE! Foster a homeless animal!
In order to help save animal lives, we are always seeking foster homes and additional volunteers. There are many "jobs" for many volunteers, and we always need your help! Not sure if you don't have the time? Most of our volunteers also have full-time jobs and families and obligations. Think about it, and contact us at iredellhumane@yahoo.com if you are interested. Also check out our website at iredellhumane.org for more information.
We are always in need of donations. Your donations go to provide food, vaccines, spaying and neutering, and general medical care for our animals in need. Without your help, unwanted animals in our area would have no chance for permanent, loving homes. Please contribute to our address below.
Who We Are
We are a nonprofit group, operated by volunteers. We do NOT receive funding from local, state, government agencies, nor are we supported financially by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) or any other animal rescue organization.
