Who We Are
We are a volunteer 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization that promotes the well being and adoption of pets at the Forsyth County Animal Shelter. We focus on volunteering our time and efforts at the shelter facility as well as participate in community events off site to help place shelter pets in great homes, fund raise to provide foster care and medical attention for foster andshelter pets.
Adopting a friend
Our adoption fee includes all age appropriate shots up to the date of adoption, heart worm testing ( if age appropriate) & current heartworm preventative, initial worming, flea treatment and spay/neuter. We may feature photos and stories of many pets from the Forsyth County Animal Shelter to get them exposure in the "big" world out there as well as pets in our community seeking a new place to call "home". When reading the "bio" of each pet it will state if the pet is at the shelter, courtesy posting or if in foster care with FOS it will ask you to request an application by emailing Friends of the Shelter at friendsoftheshelter@gmail.com. - If it says the pet is at the shelter you will need to go to the Forsyth County Animal Shelter to meet the pet. If it is a courtesy posting please contact persons listed in the pet's story.

** NEWS **
While we do everything we can to take in pets in need of our help- there are just not enough foster homes or funding for this progam to go around. We still want to do something for those that seek a little bit of help from their "Friends" -- So, we will post pets on Petfinder.com from members of our community needing new homes for their pets. We ask if you are seeking this help from us- please email us your pet's story, any medical information to include shots/spay/neuter, what type of home you are seeking, two or three good photos and contact information so interested families can contact you about your pet.
Please realize pets obtained thru this means are not being adopted thru the Friends of the Shelter organization. We are mearly trying to help pets in need of a new home by displaying them and telling their "story" on Petfinder.com. Any agreements, arrangements or information about the pet is soley between the family seeking a new home for their pet and the family seeking the pet.
