Who We Are
Orange County's Animal Services Center is an open-access facility located in Chapel Hill, NC. We have many wonderful pets available for adoption- come check us out!
We don't always have the resources to write personality profiles for every animal, but our staff is more than happy to tell you more about any animal we have in our care. We also have small animals available for adoption from time to time (such as rabbits and hamsters).
Come check them out today - maybe the perfect pet for your home is waiting for you!
PLEASE NOTE: Our animals all come from a different background and all deal with the shelter environment differently. Some of the animals here are a little overwhelmed and therefore don't photograph well- so please take that into consideration when browsing our pets. Stop by in person and fall in love with more than just a picture!! These animals need you and are ALL beautiful and special.

Volunteer!!
Animal Services needs volunteers to help walk dogs, socialize pets, clean, work at special events, and more! We especially need extra help during the summer months when many of our dedicated volunteers are away. If you are interested in volunteering at the shelter, please contact Sarah Fallin (email - sfallin@orangecountync.gov) as soon as possible. It takes the efforts of many people to keep Orange County's Animal Services Center up and running, and the more people we have, the better it can be - and the more lives we can save!
The center also has a need for foster homes at certain times.
Taking a foster pet requires that you are willing to work on the issues that the particular pet may have (some need confidence-building, some do not present well in the shelter environment, some need socialization and training, etc.). If you take on a foster pet, we also need you to make every attempt to place the animal with an appropriate permanent home by (for example) posting flyers and taking the foster pet to various events such as adoptathons in order to meet potential adopters. PLEASE consider fostering - with the shelter as crowded as it is, you will definitely be saving a life, and nothing is more rewarding and gratifying than seeing your foster pet blossom and then go on to become the object of adoration in a loving forever home.
Note: When asking about a particular pet at the shelter, it's best to refer to both its name AND its ID number (found at the top of its profile). This will avoid any confusion in the event that a pet's name has been changed.

Come Visit Us!
The Animal Services Center has a brand new facility located at 1601 Eubanks Road in Chapel Hill, NC. If you're coming from I-40, take exit 266 (Hwy. 86) and head south toward downtown Chapel Hill. Eubanks is the first road on the right, almost immediately off the interstate!
