We are open for adoptions Monday - Friday 11:00am-5:00pm and the first Saturday of the month 10:00am-2:00pm.
The animals HOPE to see you there! SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR PET!! Sadly, because of pet overpopulation, it's extremely difficult to find homes for all of the UNWANTED pets that are brought into the shelter. By spaying and neutering your pets, you can prevent unwanted litters of puppies and kittens that may not find homes and will have to be euthanized. Please help prevent pet overpopulation and euthanasia. Call us at 704 922-8677 and press option #8 to learn about Gaston County's FREE spay/neuter program or check out these websites for information on low cost spay/neuter options:
The Gaston County Department of Animal Control was established to provide for the health and safety of citizens and protect them from animals and the threat of animals. The mission of Animal Control is not only to enhance the safety of citizens, but also to ensure the proper care and treatment of animals. This is accomplished through animal-related services which reflect our professionalism and a concern for responsible pet ownership. One such service is the Pet Adoption Program. Animal Control became a Division of the County Police Department on September 18, 1995.
Adopting a friend
In an effort to promote the adoption of healthier animals and to help reduce the number of unwanted litters, area veterinarians, the Gaston Humane Society and Animal Control have joined to support an adoption-medical contract to achieve these goals. Selective dogs and cats are available for an adoption fee of $90.00 for dogs and $75.00 for cats. Pets will receive specific health services, including spaying or neutering, from a local participating veterinarian of your choosing.
Adoptable pets are available on a first come - first serve basis. On the chance that these may no longer be available, Animal Control staff encourages anyone interested in adopting a pet to come by the Animal Shelter and view all available adoption pets. Pets can be adopted during regular operating hours: Monday - Friday 11:00am-5:00pm,
First Saturday of the Month 10:00am-2:00pm.
Closed other Saturdays and Sundays
