Who We Are
FurEver Friends Animal Rescue Network is a non- profit, NO-KILL, all volunteer rescue and shelter that is committed to improving the welfare of stray, abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens. We have been in operation since 2002 serving the Buncombe County area and surrounding counties. We work closely with individuals and families in our communities to provide a NO-KILL alternative to government shelters. We rely on the kindness and generosity of animal lovers who open their hearts to help us take care of the orphans that desperately need our help.
Our goal is to provide an alternative destination for cats that can no longer be kept by their owners, while at the same time educating the owners in regards to proper care and problem solving. We do our best to help all those that come to us or try to recommend alternatives if we cannot help them immediately. We assist families with loved ones who are ill and can no longer care for their pet. We also assist families that have generously taken in a forgotten stray and are looking for a permanent home. We provide sanctuary for pets who's owners are in abusive personal situations and need temporary placement until they can be reclaimed.
About Our Shelter

Our State-Licensed Shelter is a cage-free, temporary home for our rescued feline friends. In it, they experience the best care we can provide in a loving environment while awaiting adoption. Groups of cats live in segregated rooms where they play and relax together. They have windows to sun themselves and watch birds, and "treetop" shelves and perches to curl up and sleep. There are also accomodations for cats who need to be isolated during intake and during recoveries.
Cats that are ultimately unable to find permanent homes are welcome to live out their lives with us, receiving care and all the love and attention we can provide. Our ultimate mission is to place them all in permanent homes where they will have the love, comfort and safety they deserve.
Cats outside our shelter are kept in private foster homes where they receive the love and care of a family environment. Would you like to provide a temporary home for a cat or kitten? Please
contact us about becoming a foster!
Adopting a Friend
All of our adoptions are strictly
INDOOR ONLY meaning the kitty is to live completely inside their adoptors residence.
Our adoption fees are set at a level that allows us to recover a portion of our housing and medical expenses. Before they are available for adoption, all cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/Leukemia and Heartworm, given the FVRCPC vaccine, as well as treated for fleas and internal parasites. They are all current on their vaccinations for their age, with adults being fully vaccinated. Kittens may require a 2nd booster, leukemia or rabies vaccines, depending on their age. All cats are microchipped with the adopters information before they go to their new home. Complete medical records are included with each adoption.
Our adoption fee for adult cats (1 year and older) is $50.00 and our kittens are $90.00. The fee is lowered for adults to assist in finding homes.
Our adoption process is quite simple. We ask that you complete a screening form which asks questions that allow us to attempt to match the approprite pet to your home and lifestyle. When we agree on the cat, you sign an adoption contract and Kitty is ready to go home!
FurEver Friends has a very liberal return policy. During the first 30 days after the adoption, the cat or kitten can be returned to us, along with their adoption documents, for a full refund of the adoption fee. During the first 60 days after the adoption, the cat or kitten can be returned and exchanged for another of like age. Lastly, at anytime during the cat's life, if for any reason the adoptor finds themselves unable to keep or care for their pet, FurEver Friends will accept the return of the animal so we may find it a new home.
If you are interested in adoption, please contact us at (828) 398-4943 or by
email. Additionally, you can download and complete the
Adoption Request Application to bring with you.
