Alaskan Malamute Rescue of North Carolina is an all-volunteer group dedicated to the welfare of purebred Alaskan Malamutes. We are recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 charitable organization. We are a donation supported organization.
Adopting a friend
We work hard to find great homes for the Malamutes we take into foster care. Previous Malamute or other northern breed owners are who generally adopt from us.
Our dogs are:
1) Checked by a Veterinarian and given routine vaccines
2) Spayed/Neutered, prior to placement
3) Heartworm tested/treated/maintained on preventive Rx
4) Kept in foster homes so their behavior/temperament and likes/dislikes are known
5) Most learn basic obedience commands and are crate-trained
6) Are microchipped for permanent ID
7) Included in the ShelterCare free offer (1 mo. free pet insurance)
Note: You will notice that our dogs are marked "NO SMALL CHILDREN". This is our policy and does not directly relate to the individual dog's temperament or experience with children. We do not place Mals known to be aggressive towards humans of any age.
Our adoption process is:
1) Completed Adoption Application
2) Satisfactory veterinarian and personal references
3) Secure fenced yard
4) Home visit
5) Adoption Fee, $175 to help defray veterinary costs
6) Signed Adoption Contract
Note: We do not adopt to homes with small children (less than 6 yrs. old) We consider homes with older children on a case by case basis.

Come Visit Us!
We foster the dogs in private homes around the state of North Carolina. Arrangements to meet a particular dog are made after we have received and approved your adoption application. Foster homes are in the Charlotte, Durham, and Winston-Salem areas.
AMR-NC is supported solely by donations and adoption fees.Donations are deductible to the extent allowable by law. We receive no public funds or grants. Donations of any amount are always greatly appreciated and may be sent to AMR-NC, PO Box 71615, Durham, NC 27722-1615. Donations in memory or in honor of a human or animal companion are accepted and published in our newsletter.
