We are selling T-shirts with our logo at Michal's pet world in Wilson. Proceeds from the sale of these shirts will help absorb clinic costs. For more information, contact Michals Pet World located in Wilson.

Who We Are
For the Love of Dogs opened January '04. We are dedicated to providing quality medical/personal care to stray/abandoned animals in our program. This dedication represents love, time and cost. We are a non-profit shelter/clinic and do not receive any money from state/federal government at this time. Utilities to operate the clinic/kennel cost on average $300.00 per month. Medications, medical supplies, and vaccinations cost about $300.00 per month. We have a veterinarian to run our clinic, providing spay/neutering, and medical care, 1-2 days per week and costs about $500.00 each day there. About 80% of our rescues are heartworm positive when entering the program. It costs about $125.00 to treat one dog for heartworms.
Our kennel/clinic functions daily with the gracious donations from our community and others wishing to contribute to helping these animals. Any TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation you may want to contribute will be greatly appreciated. Monetary donations are always needed to continue to be able to offer such needed care to these animals.
Adopting a friend
Our dogs are adopted out only when fully healthy and ready to go to a new home! Each dog will be up to date on all of his/her medical needs and will have had all it's vaccines, de-wormed, heartworm checked (and treated if needed), started on heartworm preventative, and spayed or neutered. Those seeking to adopt a dog will be interviewed to see what dog (size, personality, etc.) would best match the family. If a dog is found to be a good match, the dog and adopter are given a two week "trial adoption" period. During this period of time, you and the dog get to know each other and you get to see what the dog is going to be like. If you decide to adopt the dog, a final adoption is processed. If the dog is not a good match, the dog is brought back to the kennel and the process can be started over to find the dog that is right for you. We do require a fenced in area for playtime so that the dog is kept safe. We prefer the dog be kept inside and be treated like part of the family.
We request a $100.00 (tax-deductible) donation to help cover the cost of medical care and supplies for the dog.

We are located on 5146 Quaker Road, just off HWY 42 in Wilson, N.C., 27893. We welcome you to come to our kennel and visit us and the dogs!!
We are always seeking volunteers to be foster parents, help with giving dog breaks in the kennel, feeding and watering, helping on clinic days with holding dogs, weighing dogs, bathing, or anyting you feel you are willing to do that would be of help to us!
