Duncan was surrendered to our rescue over a year and a half ago, as a baby. He was purchased from a big box pet store as a pet for a four year old. Shortly after his purchase it was apparent that he was quite ill, and due to rough handling from the family's child, he began nipping. He was finally surrendered to our veterinarian because the family did not with to pursue medical treatment. Bryony was abandoned along with six other guinea pigs at a local animal shelter, all living in a hamster cage. She had recently given birth to 3 of the six. She proved to be a very strong, obstinate personality, squabbling with several other girls until she finally picked Duncan as a friend. He was completely in love with her and she seems to like him ok. The two are a lovely pair of piggies, and would do well in a home with older children or only with adults. Because of the trauma that Duncan suffered from a small child, he is prone to nervous nipping when handled by small children. For more information on Amelia, please visit her Petfinder profile! |

Who We Are ACR&S is a small 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue organization. We focus on rescuing small exotic pets which have needs that often cannot be met by regular animal shelters. We also help with rehabilitating wildlife and placing other animals, such as livestock, by working with other rescue groups that specialize in those areas. Our two adoption coordinators are based in Morrisville, NC and Charlotte, NC; and we serve the entire NC Piedmont area. Unfortunately, due to rising gasoline costs, we are no longer able to travel to place animals outside North Carolina. We can still help you via email, by guiding you to other members of our network of out-of-state shelters and rescues, who can help you find the perfect pet locally!. ACR&S' success is wholly dependant on our network of rescue groups, foster homes, and volunteers. If you would like to join us in any capacity please contact us. ACR&S is also a sanctuary for unwanted animals to live out their days in peace and with love. Our current permanent residents include sixteen guinea pigs, a finches, a parakeet, a cockatiel, and eight elderly or special needs rabbits. To learn more about them you can visit our Sanctuary page.
