  • Please join us on Feb. 25th at the Hampstead Library at 7pm for the next Friends of the Shelter meeting. We have several fun and exciting events planned for 2010. Volunteers are always welcome. Hope to see you soon.

  • Rabies vaccines are available at the shelter for $6.00.
  • Shelter hours are 1-4pm, M-F.

    Our Wish List....Can you Help?

  • The shelter needs 20-30 medium stainless water dishes. The old ones are rusty and need replacing. You can either bring these to the shelter or call 910-279-3196 to make arrangements for pick up. Thank-you.
    Donate a Bed
    Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog to sleep in comfort, please click here. For help with any of our online services, please email Kuranda: contact@kuranda.com

    Who We Are

    Pender County Animal Shelter is a small rural shelter that is located in a big county. Pender Co. is 876 sq. miles of country roads and beaches, stretching east from Topsail Island to west of HWY 421 and south from the New Hanover county line to north at the Onslow and Duplin county lines. The shelter is located in Burgaw, NC. about 25 miles north of Wilmington, NC.
    While we are NOT a no-kill facility, we are RESCUE FRIENDLY.

    ADOPTING A FRIEND

      Shelter hours are 1-4pm, M-F
      Adoption fees are $26. This includes a rabies vaccine (dogs and cats) and a bordetella vaccine (dogs only). Puppies are vaccinated against parvo/distemper.

     We are about 25 mins north of Wilmington, NC. Take Interstate 40 to the Burgaw exit # 398 . Take Hwy 53 west for 6.3 miles to New Savannah Rd. Go right on New Savannah Rd. & go about 1/4 mile. The shelter is on the left.
