Edgecombe-Nash Humane Society
We currently have dogs, puppies, cats and kittens which are in need of a home. We prefer to adopt within our immediate area; however, you can contact us and leave a fax number so that we can fax you a questionnaire form.
Our Featured Pet...
If love and devotion is something that you are looking for then Roscoe is the one for you. Roscoe is a lab mix. He was rescued after someone just up and simply abandoned him. He knows that he has been given a second chance at life and is just waiting patiently for his very own special family. He is very affectionate and if you will let him he will climb right up into your lap for loving and petting. The closer he can be to you the better. He loves to give and get hugs and kisses. He is now a very spoiled little boy that needs a loving, forever family to call his own. He loves to run and play. He requires a fenced in yard. He is neutered, is up to date on his shots and is on heartworm preventative. His date of birth is November 2006. His adoption fee is $125.00. If you are interested in giving Roscoe his forever home please e-mail us at EdgecombeNashHumaneSociety@yahoo.com
HELP WANTED-
HELP WANTED-
We are in need of temporary foster care homes to house our rescued
pets and also in need of local volunteers to help with these animals
at our adopt-a-thons and walking the dogs at a boarding facility.
Also if you have a business and want to help, we have a need of locations to put our doggy banks for donations. If interested call our answering service at 446-1669 and we will call back and make arrangements to place it there.
Who We Are
The Edgecombe-Nash Humane Society is a non-profit organization of
volunteers who rescue stray and abused animals in Nash and Edgecombe counties. We do not euthanize our rescued pets.
Our rescued pets are kept in foster homes and at boarding facilities, since we do not have our own facilities.
All medical care, food, shelter or any other support for these rescued pets is funded strictly through donations as we do not receive any government, state, city, or county funding. Monetary donations are used strictly for the care of these animals. We also need puppy and kitten food, dog pens, crates and houses, cat litter and carriers, and toys. These items may be donated by calling 252-446-1669 so a volunteer can give you a drop off location. The animals need your help so please consider making a donation, becoming a temporary foster parent, or by volunteering your time to walk the dogs or help at our adopt-a-thons. We are also looking for land in Edgecombe or Nash County which could be donated to us or sold to us for a low reasonable price. We currently have funds to start building a shelter; however, we do not have the funds to buy the land. Any land donation would be considered a tax deductible donation.
Adopting a friend
All potential new guardians must complete a questionnaire form, allow us to verify vet records on your current and past pets, sign an adoption
contract, agree to not declaw cats, and donate an adoption fee between
$55-$125 which is dependent on what medical attention the animal has
received. We require that all of our dogs have a fenced in yard in their new home. All our animals are up to date with shots and most of our pets have been spayed or neutered; however, those
which are too young at adoption will be required to be spayed or neutered within a certain time frame. We do not adopt our dogs to people that plan on using them as working dogs or hunting dogs. Our current veterinarians do not at
present give us vouchers for reduced spaying & neutering costs. Other
animals may also have other requirements which must be met prior
to adoption. If we do not have the particular type or breed that you are
looking for, we will put you on a waiting list to be called if that particular
animal becomes available as we do keep in contact with 4 other animal shelters.
We show our rescued pets that are for adoption at Petsmart in Rocky Mount, every other Saturday from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. We would like to thank the managment at our local Petsmart for working with us to help keep the unwanted animals alive and finding them good homes. If you need more information give us a call at 252-446-1669, this is an answering machine so leave a contact number for both night and day .
