We are an animal control facility, servicing Chowan, Gates and Perquimans county. Our hours are 10 AM to 4 PM Mon-Fri, and 10 AM to 2 PM on Sat., closed all day Sun.
However, if you are interested in adopting a specific animal, please call the shelter. We will help you as much as possible.
Adopting a friend
All adoption Fees are $35.00, however, this helps cover the cost of having the animal spayed or neutered if you use one of our participating vets.
Contracts are all $35, but there may be additional fees at the vets office.

Animals that are already altered will be a $20.00 adoption fee.

From Edenton/HWY 17
Take hwy 32 out of Edenton, headed toward the Gates Co/VA area.
Chowan water tower will be on the left side of the road, directly across from the turn onto Icaria Road (on the right hand side)
The shelter is located aprox. 1/2 mile down on the right-hand side of Icaria.
From Gates/Va area
Follow HWY 32 toward Edenton.
Chowan water tower will be on the right hand side of the road, idrectly across from the turn onto Icaria road (on the left hand side)

From Hertford/Elizabeth City
Take Hwy 17 South until you reach Edenton. Turn Right onto hwy 32, headed toward the Gates/Va area. Follow for several miles. chowan water tower will be on the left side of the road, directly across from the turn onto Icaria Road (on the right hand side).
The shelter is located aprox. 1/2 mile down on the right side of Icaria road.
