The Compassion in Action Foundation encourages kindness and compassion towards all living beings. We actively work to end the suffering of animals.
We conduct animal cruelty investigaions. We have a network of foster homes. We rescue, foster, rehabilitate and find loving, permanent homes for unwanted abandoned, and/or abused/injured animals.(We are NOT a kennel.)
FEATURED COMPANION ANIMAL:
This beautiful Chocolate Point Siamese male cat was rescued from the cold outdoors. He was abandoned outside of a restaurant with just a bowl of water. He is a very beautiful older adult cat, obviously once someone's beloved pet. Unfortunately he had no microchip or collar and ID tag, so we have no way of locating his former guardians. :-(
Simon Siamese was quite thin and very hungry, so we're feeding him frequent meals.
This cat is neutered, litter box trained, EXTREMELY friendly, loving and very handsome. His previous guardians had him front and rear de clawed.
Simon Siamese is Feline Leukemia and FIV NEGATIVE. He has had his rabies and annual vaccinations. Simon had BADLY infected gums and some bad teeth, which were causing him a lot of pain and preventing him from being able to eat.! Our vet had to perform oral surgery, removing several of Simon's rotting teeth. She also cleaned his remaining teeth and placed him on pain medication and antibiotics. She thinks Simon is around 12-14 years old. He is a VERY sweet, loving, mellow cat, with many happy years left in him.
Simon LOVES sleeping on the end of the bed, adores some canned food, love and tummy rubs. He loves being petted and spoken to. Of course, being a Siamese, he will talk back! Simon is a very sweet, loving, mellow guy.

UPDATE: 4/18/2008
It is with a sad heart that I write this. Simon began urinating huge amounts of very clear urine, several times outside the litter box.
I IMMEDIATELY took him to our fabulous cat veterinarian today and she performed an ultrasound, urinalysis, blood work, etc. on Simon Siamese to see what was going on. Simon is in very early stage renal (kidney) disease. I was quite broken-hearted. But the vet says that Simon is NOT suffering. This is extremely important to Compassion in Action, as we work very hard to end animal suffering!
Our vet says that Simon needs to eat a special food and be given a specific amount of Cod Liver Oil every day, for now. She says that with a physical exam every 3 months, and eventual renal disease daily care (i.e.: IV fluids, daily medications, etc.), she believes he could live happily/ comfortably for another 2, 3, or possibly 4 years (or, who know...maybe longer!)!
Compassion in Action is not an animal sanctuary and we do not have the funds to afford Simon's special diet, 4 annual veterinary exams, ultrasounds, blood work and medications. However, I just could not give up on Simon.
Simon DESERVES to live out the remainder of his life loved, comfortable, with consistent, top quality veterinary care and a loving caretaker to see him through the rest of his life. And to rub behind his ears, just the way he likes it.
I realize Simon is not what animal rescue organizations and most people would consider "adoptable". Is there is someone out there with a big heart willing to adopt Simon give him daily medications and spend a lot of money of him? We refuse to give up on this old, sweet cat!
As Simon is happy, he loves being with other cats & loves sleeping in his cozy, snuggly kitty bed, I have made the decision to ask for your help.
Please sponsor Simon. I promise to do everything in my power to attend to his daily needs, regularly bring him to his vet appointments, administer any necessary medications, supplements and special diet food.
When I look at Simon, I see an old, sweet, loving kitty who was discarded like a piece of trash. Simon deserves to experience old age in a loving, caring environment. with your help I am willing to take on this responsibility.....

There is an adoption fee of $125.00-$250.00 for dogs and $75.00 for cats, to help us cover our huge veterinary bills and spay/neutering.(but MAY VARY, depending on the animal). We may have to charge a higher adoption fee for some animals due to their veterinary bills (we do rescue from puppy and kitty "mills", where the animals are in HORRENDOUS condition when we get them. Our vet bills are usually up in the thousands!!). Thank you for understanding. We rely soley on the kindness of your donations.
