Our Featured Cat

Kingston

Hi, I'm Kingston! My mom was a stray and a person took her in so that she would have a nice place to give birth to me and my siblings. Well, that person turned out not to be very nice, so we are now in foster care. Despite the neglect we may have suffered, I have turned out to be a really sweet boy. I love to follow my foster mom around the house and "help" with household chores like loading the dishwasher and the washing machine. I really like playing with the other cats and dogs in the house, so it would be really great if I could go to a home with another pet. My foster mom says that I am a VERY handsome boy. I have a smoke colored undercoat with black rings and stripes overtop, which is very uniqe coloring. My foster mom things I look very regal, so she gave me a name to match. I'm healthy, up to date on all of my shots and due to be neutered very soon. If you think I could be the right addition to your house, stop by an adoption fair and say hello!

Our Featured Dog...

Ursula

Ursula is a very sweet and lovable little girl. She only weighs five pounds and is very tiny. We believe she is about five years old, despite the grey hair on her face. Other then that, she is all black. Ursula is completely healthy, other then her anxiety (she is just winking in photo 2). She is a very nervous dog. She is currently on medication for anxiety and has only shown mild improvement. She desperately needs a home that will shower her with attention and patience while she comes out of her shell. Ursula is never agressive, but she hides a lot, afraid of the world.

If you are interested in adopting Ursula or another one of AARF's dogs, please email us or come by the AARF House at 311 Harvey Street, Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m to check out many more wonderful dogs and puppies..

AARF Encourages You to Consider An Adult Cat

Kittens surely are cute but, there are many advantages to adopting an adult cat. Their personality is developed so you will know if they are a cuddler, a lap cat or a "just look at me with love" type of cat. They are typically a little calmer and have learned to control their claws. They have had their spay or neuter surgery and all their vaccines, so less time is required for vet visits. Many people think that they have to adopt a kitten for it to develop a strong bond to people but an adult cat will also bond very strongly.

Who We Are

AARF (Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation) is an all volunteer, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to assist people and animals in the community through adoption services, rescue operations, and a low-cost spay/neuter program.

Adopting a friend

The AARF adoption fee for cats is $95.00 and for dogs $150.00, and includes all testing, age-appropriate shots, and spay/neuter. People interested in adopting must successfully complete an AARF application and contract and are subject to a home visit.
