Wake County Animal Care, Control, & Adoption Center is a government run Animal Shelter. Our animal shelter not only houses stray and quarantine animals; we provide clinics, offer classes and promote responsible pet ownership. We require mandatory sterilization of all our adopted animals.
Adopting a Friend
Our shelter adoption/reclamation hours are Monday, Friday, and Saturday 11:00am to 4:00 pm; Tuesday and Thursday 11:00am to 7:00 pm; and Sunday 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Adoption Fees:
Dog $115.00
Cat $95.00
*1st set of Feline/Canine Shots, general deworming, Microchip and Topical tick and flea application included with all adoptions.
Mandatory Sterilizaton is required.
Minimum adoption age is 18 years old.
Volunteering and Donations
We are always in need of both volunteers and donations. Donations may be in the form of dog/puppy, cat/kitten dry or canned food, cat litter and leashes, collars, towels and blankets and monetary. Please feel free to call our volunteer coordinator Talena Chavis at 919-250-3180. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Special consideration is given to individuals 14-17 years old if volunteering is part of a required school or group affiliated community service project.
Foster caregivers are also welcome. Please feel free to contact Nancy Clemmons at 919-250-4474 for mare information about becoming a foster care giver.

The animal shelter is located off Corporation Parkway in Raleigh, at the corner of Commerce Drive and Beacon Lake Road. Take the 64 East New Bern Avenue/Rocky Mount Exit. Take a right at the second stop light and follow the brown Wake County Animal Control signs.
