Many pugs come to PRONC with minor to severe health challenges. We make every effort to save each animal that comes into our care, saving euthanization for only the extreme, and very rare case where there is no other reasonable option. We have every pug evaluated by a veterinarian and they are spayed/neutered, heartworm checked, micro-chipped and brought up to date on all vaccinations.
At this time, due to limited resources, we are only accepting pure bred pugs. However, we rescue pugs of any age or health. Our ability to accept an animal is limited to available space and funding. Thanks to you, we have saved many pugs from being put down at overcrowded animal shelters.
PRONC has no paid employees and is supported through your kind gift donations and through the wonderful efforts of our family of volunteers. As you can imagine, meeting the needs of so many homeless, neglected and abused animals, is a financial challenge. Won't you consider making your tax deductible donation today? You will feel great knowing that you brought some light into a little dog’s life who will then go on to bring happiness into someone’s home.
If you love the pug breed and would like to join us in opening your heart and home to foster pugs in need, we would love to hear from you. We need kind hearted and dedicated volunteers in the Carolinas and surrounding states.
We are a publicly supported organization described in sections 170 (b) (1) (A) (vi) of the IRS code
We are a 501 ( 3 ) (c) nonprofit organization, and your donations are tax deductible
Remember adopting a pet is a life long commitment. If you are "UNSURE" you can make this adoption a permanent one, please do not apply until the timing is right for you and your family.
We rescue pugs from many walks of life and can not guarantee a dog to be house trained. Remember you are adopting a shelter pet. Thank you for understanding.
PRONC’s adoption process begins with filling out and having the adoption application on file with us. Once that is done, we take the applications of those who are in the area of the available Pug and begin email communication with them. This could be one applicant to 10 applicants. We begin reducing the number through email communications, vet checks, reference checks, phone interviews and home checks.
Puppies 5 months and (under) Adoption fee $400.00
Dogs 6 years and (under) Adoption fee $250.00
Dogs 7 years and (up) Adoption fee $125.00
Sometimes depending on a special needs pug we waive the adoption fee for the perfect family.
All pugs are spay/neutered, heartworm checked and up to date on vaccines, and medical needs addressed before adoption.
If you adopt a pug which has not been to our main office yet and been micro-chipped, you will receive a "FREE" micro-chip at our annual pug picnic in October, visit the Pug Picnic web page for more information.. Just bring you adoption agreement with you to the annual picnic.
